Not too worried overall about this club as it pertains to winning the division. I still think they do that without a problem. What I am worried about though, is their chances in the postseason. These last few weeks, they are really starting to look like a one and done type candidate.

This lineup is fantastic as a whole, best I've seen watching this team for a number of years and that includes the 2 WS teams.

The pitching staff though. There is one hammer in the whole group and that's Rogers. Even Berrios is a #2 type starter, he's been merely decent the last month or so. This club if they wanted to win big this season, had to overapay to get 1 fantastic reliever and 1 ace type pitcher. They brought in so far what looks to be 1-1.5 decent, not great relievers.

Sad to say, but don't expect this kind of season out of Kepler, Polanco, Cruz, Cron etc going forward. This is the perfect storm of guys hitting the cover off the ball. Not saying these guys won't be good going forward, but, this is an unprecedented year as far as hitting the ball goes. I fear that once again our ownership and front office are punting on a chance to really take this all the way.

Indians smell blood in the water, but they have tough games coming up as well.

And they also don't hit the ball that great. Twins will win the division. Then they will win maybe one game in the playoffs. Welcome to Twins territory where we are tickled pink to have a chance as long as we hold onto our prospects.

I'm guessing we see some of those prospects yet this year. It like like Graterol may be getting groomed for an opener role. Duran has been moved up to AA. Either could make a big difference, perhaps. Vasquez went from A+to majors last season.

August 7. This literally might be Kohl Stewart’s last chance to prove he can be a MLB pitcher.

If he gets sent down after today by the time his 10 days are up it will be only two weeks to roster expansion.

Good riddance!!!!!

I tend to think that the playoffs are all about who gets hot at the right time.

WHos coming up for Stewart tomorrow?

Too soon for Poppen, Thorpe or Stashak. Ryan Eades would be an option. So would Cody Allen. I believe there is still an open spot on the 40 man.

Because he can no longer hit major league pitching.

And what's your plan if Arraez starts to slump? There's no one kicking down doors in AAA to take his spot.

Assuming Gordon is healthy, him. But Schoop is going nowhere.... Not until after game 162.

I think better players are more likely to get hot, and to still be productive when not...

He’s probably going to get only about 200 PA vs LHP in a typical season. Is it really worth tinkering with a guy his age who is, at least, not an automatic out vs LHP? .300 obp is better than Schoop’s overall number.

In my opinion it's not really tinkering to go with your normal and better swing.  It is generally tougher to hit against your own handedness, but Polanco has proven to have better bat control and more power from the left hand side than the right.

Schoop's OPS is in the .750's.  Polanco as a right hand hitter is the worst hitter in the twins lineup on any given day.  Polanco has a similar OPS and SLG% as a RH as Jake Cave this season and he was actually even worse last yea.r

Schoop is really streaky. He's a veteran who could still get hot and carry the team for a series or two. I mean if Adam Kennedy... dang it, said I'd never say his name again...
