Well, that was fun!! Now that we've got Lucas Giolito out of the way, and La Makkkkkkkkina and Poppen gave the bullpen a much needed rest, we should be able to increase our lead over Cleveland this weekend. Right? Oh, right, Cleveland never loses to bad teams, and according to Randball Stu, they are going on a month of playing against KC. Or as my wife calls them, the "Royales with Cheese."

Good to see the Bomba Squad doing its thing as well.

Although, I had to miss much of the game last night because my 7-year-od daughter had to watch Moana again. I had seen two Cruz missiles, and enough of JO to feel pretty comfortable just following the Game Thread until about the 8th inning. And Moana is a pretty good movie. My wife and I haven't seen a non-kids movie in the theater for a long time. The bright side of that is that there are a lot of good kids movies. The animation is incredible, and the humorous nods to the parents are very well done. Jemaine Clement plays a character that sings a song in Moana, for example. Unfortunately, tonight we have to go to a park where Mary Poppins is playing outside. Of course, it's monsoon season here, so there's a 50/50 chance it'll be rained out, and I might get to watch the end of the game. Hopefully, the end will be as anticlimactic as last night.

When I was young, there were not nearly so many good kids movies. I think my favorite was Jungle Book. I loved King Louie's song. . . . But enough about kids movies.

Let's keep the Bomba Squad momentum against the ChiSox!

And I challenge you all to not post about what the FO will or will not do, or should or should not do as the trade deadline approaches. Damn!! I had to go and mention it, didn't I?

Why doesn't Garver ever play 1B when he's not catching? He played plenty of it in the minors.

Because the Twins are operating under the idea that catching is extremely taxing, and giving your catchers frequent days completely off is a good thing.  Given that Garver has been the best offensive catcher in baseball this year, while Castro at 32 and coming off surgery is having his best season since 2013, I think they might be on to something.  I would not be surprised to see a lot more teams copying the Twins approach in the next few years.

...the humorous nods to the parents are very well done...

I took my daughter to see "Enchanted" back when it came out. The same thing was true there, and the Disney people understand that those touches are appreciated. Also highly appreciated about "Enchanted" was casting Amy Adams as the lead actress. They had dads in mind when they did that.

...I loved King Louie's song...

Possibly the best song on any Disney movie soundtrack ever. Getting Louis Prima to sing it was a stroke of genius.

This, and...

1. Giving Garver extra rest also allows the option of getting him 1-2 PH appearances late in a close game while not taxing him for a full game.

2. The Twins have a bunch of guys who can play first and hit. While we all want to see Garver in the lineup all the time, that's not really good for a catcher over 162 games. The dropoff seen by putting in Sano or even Gonzalez over Garver isn't crippling the offense.

Eh, Gonzalez is actually a very large drop off from Garver; it's on par with going from George Springer to Albert Pujols.  Marwin is extremely valuable, and I'm glad he's on the team this year and next, but his value is derived largely from defensive versatility and intangibles.  That being said, he has 3 straight months of 120ish wRC+ production, so it's not like he's quad A.

And, if we can't beat Dylan Cease without Garver in the lineup, then just fold up the tent right now.

Cease, and desist, you're saying.

Agreed.

Here's the Jemaine Clement song, for all of us Flight of the Concords fans.

I have dish Network in there in a contract dispute with Fox Sports North. Does anyone have a link where I can stream for free? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I going with a free seven day trial of YouTube TV. Hopefully Sling and FSN will work things out during that time.

I've been using Hulu this season and I'm happy enough with the service; it's fine from a technical standpoint but also includes Hulu programming so that's a pretty big bonus.

I like LaTroy. He and Morneau would be good together with Bremer.

I accidentally stumbled into a Twins Facebook post full of people ripping LaTroy, who I think is rough around the edges but quite good at commentary.

Yet another reminder that we are not the target demographic most of the time. I think we like LaTroy because he doesn't throw mindless platitudes and lazy takes around constantly, even if he's not the most polished broadcaster on the planet.

Plus they've just recently had huge suCCess against a couple of CeCeases

This stamina is noticeably taxed. It does appear that ceases will eventually cease.

After the great Harry Doyle, they all pale in comparison.
