"And he stoppeth one of three..."

I'll take one for the team. This is the one we listen to what the ancient mariners really have to say. Personally i hope we get the spruce goose, rather than an albatross. I also hope we win, and not because the rest of the leauge dies off.

Things to think about...

Coleridge: I had this wonderful dream* where it was the 80s, Reagan was preisdent, and there was an epic game thread intro that i read. Then i woke up and started writing it down, and well something distracted me, and when i got back to writing it, i had forgotten most of it. So i had to make up the rest, so it won't be any different than the rest of mine.

In Minnesot' a team there played,

a stately metrodome was built

by Alf and Mississipp' it drains

across the purple fruited plains

down to a delta silt.

I think it went on to mention Gagne and Hrbek and Viola and Pucket and the dynasty that was supposed to last forever... though being a dream and all, i didn't think to question Alf's competency as a general contractor.

But i went on to think about poetry. And figured i was already Ninja'd if i made more than a passing reference to the Coleridge poem as performed by Iron Maiden. But if i really tried to parody, i know it would somehow wind up with Calloo Callay, and a vorpal bat, and the slaying of the dread Jabberyankees, and i don't wish to jinx it.

So i'll content myself with explaining that this game is hereby named Sam, both as an homage to Mr. Coleridge, but also to suggest a Seuss reference. Would you adopt advanced metrics driven managing philosophies on a boat? With a goat?

So welcome to the game!

I am Sam. Sam i am.

How deep is this lineup? Both guys who homered last night get the night off today.... and tonight's lineup looks stronger. That's just crazy talk.

I guess Wednesdays are really dead around here.  Howz it going Sample?

Night after night, day after day, I read the lineup and am amazed at what I see. All this might. And I pray "let the bombas be!"

And what does Horton hear? The crack of powerful bombas and a record setting, special year.

Is goin' okay.

Too lazy to actually figure out good ways to watch the game other than gameday, but i should bring it up momentarily.

And i suppose hockey fans might be forgiven for favoring a Stanley cup game seven over just any baseball game.

I am actually considering seeing if Coyle can pull a Mientkiewicz

Cron, Sano, and Bux the 7-8-9 hitters. Not a bad bottom 3rd, wow.

I agree this is a formidable bottom 3rd.  I don't love Buxton batting behind Sano, though.  Could nullify his speed a bit.

Me thinks Rocco read the article here and decided to double down.

Not a problem. The bases are empty after a home run.

I am okay, so long as it is understood Buxton still gets to bat in the first inning.

On the farm, Thorpe has five shutout innings with 9 Ks and 1 hit/2 BB for the Wed Rings. They lead 1-0 on a homerun by El Tortoiso. ?

Ok... let's get 4 bombas this inning so I can put this away by the time my wife comes home from dinner with a colleague.

Is she having dinner with a colleague or is she coming home with a colleague? I suppose the answer is yes.

If Tommy Milone is pitching for the Mariners, he has got a amazing tan and changed dominant arms...

I think he's pitching, just not in the first inning.

I don't work with her, and she just walked in the door.
