And somehow gets away with it.

Maybe they were counting on the element of surprise. He can throw a breaking pitch there, and if it doesn't work he probably doesn't lose the ball game. Throw one of his mediocre fastballs, and the game could end right there. Not the call I would have made, but it worked out.

spotting him a 3 run lead helps too.

Oh, that's right, the game couldn't actually end there.

But it might as well, if he tied it up with a homer. I still call for a breaking pitch, any breaking pitch, and take my chances.

SInce May 1st Blake Parker has an xFIP of 5.16. Why he is being used in any situation other than mop up duty is beyond me.

In that time period he's allowed a HR/ Flyball % of 31.3% (or HR/9 of 3.65, if you prefer) and yet has a strand rate of 88.9%. So it could have been much, much worse.

Well, we just won with our worst starter facing their best. Sweep should be attainable now.

I got you, fam.

It's only a save if you make it dramatic...

Right, and it's not like the Twins' bullpen has no competition in the long-running drama department...

Hey, I simultaneously feel equally confident in a sweep and in knowing who to blame for jinxing it if we don't!

The ginormous glasses helped him make out the looks of anguish and rage on the faces of Twins fans in the stands.

I can’t find the quote or which manager even said it, I guess it was Billy Gardner judging by the year, but it was something along the lines of “my closer is over there crying in his locker, does anyone feel bad for me?”

Edit: the quote is from ray miller when he was asked if he felt bad for Ron Davis. He said “do you ever feel sorry for me? My future depends on a reliever who’s sitting in front of his locker right now crying.”

Thanks for tracking that down, it made my short list of favorite manager quotes.
