And, defending division champs, the Cleveland Indians! Pitching for the Twins: Jose Berrios Pitching for the Indians: Corey Kluber Play ball!
Blake Verified Member Posted March 28, 2019 Author Posted March 28, 2019 Maybe I'll get up some lineups. Maybe not. Yahoo, baseball is back!
Blake Verified Member Posted March 28, 2019 Author Posted March 28, 2019 By the way, as was pointed out to me by Not Boof Bonser, I have Central Time wrong, should be an hour later. But, better early than late!
terrydactyls Verified Member Posted March 28, 2019 Posted March 28, 2019 Doesn't the game start at 3:10 CDT?

But, better early than late!Fixed. Great job Blake. Jose Ramirez fouled a ball off his knee three days ago and had to be carted off the field. It looked really bad, but word is on Twitter that Ramirez will be in the lineup today (though lineups have not been released yet).
BoofBonser Verified Member Posted March 28, 2019 Posted March 28, 2019 Happy Opening Day everyone! 1-0, no matter how the Twins do it.

Tom Froemming Twins Daily Contributor Posted March 28, 2019 Posted March 28, 2019 It's a small sample, but Marwin Gonzalez has destroyed Kluber over his career. He's 10-for-22 with two home runs and a .455/.520/.733 batting line.
drock2190 Verified Member Posted March 28, 2019 Posted March 28, 2019 Man, the Tribe are lucky to have not lost Ramirez (my fantasy team too). That lineup does not look good on paper after him. They need Lindor back in the worst way.

If the Twins were running these five guys out on opening day, we'd have revolt around here, injuries notwithstanding. Imagine had Ramirez had been out?
BrianTrottier Verified Member Posted March 28, 2019 Posted March 28, 2019 To me this is what stood out: "SI's 2019 prediction: 90-72, first in AL Central" I found this part curious, from the "Scout's takes" section: "Who is the most overrated player on the team?I’m not a huge fan of their catcher, Jason Castro. He’s supposedly a great hitter, but he hasn’t hit much." Who has ever accused Jason Castro (who the scout later refers to when asked about their young players) of being a great hitter?

D. Hocking Verified Member Posted March 28, 2019 Posted March 28, 2019 Is it just me or does Minnesota's lineup look significantly worse without Mauer? I am not sure worse - but it does seem odd. Plus even though Dozier and others were gone mid-year, it still seems strange to glance at the line-up and not see some of the old standards (not that that is a bad thing). I saw Phil Miller tweet that Joe is not there because the girls are on spring break (we did not have that when I was in kindergarten). Speculation on my part, but from the few clips or tidbits I have seen of him during the off-season, I am really under the impression that Joe does not have any second thoughts and has fully embraced life as Dad Mauer with the occasional charity sporting event.
Tom Froemming Twins Daily Contributor Posted March 28, 2019 Posted March 28, 2019 Is it just me or does Minnesota's lineup look significantly worse without Mauer? It certainly looks weird, but I wouldn't say worse. I do really wish they would have added a better OBP guy among all these new faces. Gonna be a lot of boom or bust.
