Okay, why? Is Sean Miller doing better than Gordon?

I don't get some of these decisions. It's not like I know better ... because I really, truly don't ... but wouldn't it make sense to push Gordon just a little, even if he has to go back in 10 days? Or do they want him moving up only when it's a permanent move? Seems to me he's not getting opportunity here. And I could just be crabby about the whole state of things and that clouds my judgement.

Are there any reports on defense this year? Looks like he has a few errors, but better than last year's rate. I'd like to see him get a shot soon but no way they'll burn an option and a 40 man roster spot for him if they think he'll be booting balls around the middle infield.

The thread for tonight's game is up. This is the most depressing Twins lineup I've seen in awhile:

Grosssman RF

Mauer 1B

Kepler CF

Escobar 3B

Rosario LF

Garver C

Morrison DH

Adrianza SS

Petit 2B

So, by baseball logic that mean's they'll score 11 runs tonight, right?

Grossman leading off and playing in the field, Morrison hitting, Petit out of position and just called up..... Gibson thinking privately, "thanks a lot", I bet.

Grossman seems to be Molitor's Punto..... his now not so private grossmance.

I remember the good old days! The days when we (I) thought that Sano, Buxton, Rosario, and Kepler would lead us out of the wilderness. When Berrios, Burdi, and Chargois would put the fear of the fast ball unto our opponents. Lordy, maybe even a catcher who could both hit and catch at the same time? Alas, out of all the aforementioned names, Kepler is currently the only one on the field, and productive. Both at the same time. Those days seem so, so far in the past. :(

Sano and Buxton sure have a troubling history of injuries and this is when they are young - what is going to happen when they get older.  Combined with winning 1 of 11 this is putting a dark cloud on this season and future ones.   Hopefully something good happens soon and we don't have a repeat of 2016 when just when you thought it couldn't get worse it did.

With Petit being recalled that leaves one player (Astudillo) hitting more than .242 at Rochester.

That means the other 10 are batting .242 or worse (6 are under .200)

How is it possible to have that kind of a roster on a AAA team?

And then, other than Gordon and Wade, what non-pitcher is even close to being ML ready?

It's embarassing.

What's Enns going to do? He's behind the current 5 starters, plus Mejia, plus possibly Gonsalves, plus Ervin Santana and Trevor May hopefully in the not too distant future.

They are both probably DFA fodder, but Magill is perhaps a little more useful at the present moment.

Well I thought Enns was the better prospect overall as Magill has bounced around a lot already, and since they were basically just throwing arms at the problem I don't see why they wouldn't just use Enns, even if he is a starter. I'm not too terribly torn up about it though.

My answer was in response to Sean Miller being promoted to AAA and not Gordon. I get the not wanting him up to the big club yet, but why not to AAA?

Resembles a Split Squad in Spring Training........

After two second half collapses, I'd guess they probably want to see him hold up for a full season, then start 2019 in AAA if he does.

The elephant in the room: Sanó's weight/conditioning.

Guy is about to turn 25, but is somewhat of a wreck physically. 116 is the most games in a season for him in the majors.

His legs are barking. He becomes dubious as a long-term asset when he can't even stay healthy running out ground balls.

He should be at his peak right now, but I'm not seeing it.

BTW, I know the elbow and the shin weren't his fault.

The real elephant in the room, on Twins Daily, too often.

I prefer the teams that like youth, and challenge them. He's a top prospect. He should be in AAA now, and maybe Minnesota. Certainly in Minnesota this year, so he's ready to be here next year.

His second half collapses are pretty concerning to me.

My uneducated opinion is that he's not close to ready.

It's a fair concern, I don't agree, but it's fair. If he's not here in 2019....and Dozier is gone (he will be), ugh.

A 33 year old SS with a career .643 major league OPS is really going to make an impact.

I think the takeaway here is that the team is confident Sano will be back in a week.

I don’t like the idea of Petit being on this team but if you’re looking for a scrub to throw away in a week, whatever. He’s as good as the next guy.

Maybe they should have more than zero position players in AAA? So, you know, if there is an issue?

Given his injury history, that confidence is likely misplaced. It’s also pretty likely that he will land on the DL again this year. And also pretty likely that at least one other infielder will as well. Even with Polanco back in July, the best plan B the FO has is Gregorio Petit. That is poor roster management for a team that was expected to contend this year.

Injuries are a part of the game. Your team needs to anticipate them and be prepared. This FO got caught with it’s collective pants down IMO. Sano getting injured was extremely forseeable. Inexcusably poor planning IMO. I’m done giving this FO the “benefit of the doubt”. When obvious mistakes are made, they need to be held accountable, same as the Ryan regime.

1000 ABs for a SS with a 780 ops at AA would be more conservative than I've ever seen a team be with a top 100 prospect.
