Just a reminder for perspective, Colon is about 7 months younger than Brad Radke, who retired after the 2006 season.

I also just recently noticed that Colon is only 1 day older than former Twin Todd Walker, who last played in 2007.

He sure did! That was painful to watch.

Good for him to pitch well. After 20-30 games of pitching well this season I might get irritated. Maybe being cut from a historically bad bullpen will motivate him to find the consistency he lacked

I was watching the SF-LA broadcast and they mentioned the Dodgers had moved him to throw from the first base side of the rubber I believe they said to help disguise his pitches better.   Good to see him healthy and pitching.  Wishing him well!

Tampa now has my two favorite ex-Twins, Denard Span and Wilson Ramos. Always liked both of them. Nice bases clearing triple by Span yesterday!

So the Yankees have 3 outfielders on the DL -- and still have a starting outfield of Stanton, Judge, and Gardner...

The place I saw it made it sound like the Yankees wanted Stanton to just DH

Won't show up in the boxscore, but Gardy just got tossed in his first game as Tigers' manager arguing a replay that overturned a 10th inning walkoff win.

He was arguing with the guy that called him safe  :)

If your Twins job in the past was catching or coming out of the bullpen, you found a spot on another team in 2018. Former Twins catchers playing ball are Kurt Suzuki (Braves), John Ryan Murphy (Diamondbacks), Drew Butera (Royals), Wilson Ramos (Rays) and Rene Rivera (Angels). Relievers coming out of the pen include: Matt Belisle (Indians), J.T. Chargois (Dodgers), Anthony Swarzak (Mets), Brian Duensing (Cubs), Brandon Kintzler (Nats), Pat Neshek (Phillies), Blaine Boyer (Royals), Kevin Jepsen (Rangers), Liam Hendriks (A's) and Alex Meyer is on the Angels longterm disabled list.

Not that other positions aren't represented. Former centerfielders Aaron Hicks (Yankees), Carlos Gomez and Denard Span (Rays). Infielders Eduardo Nunez (Red Sox), Danny Valencia (Orioles), Pedro Florimon (Phillies) and Niko Goodrum (Tigers). Kendrys Morales (Blue Jays) is still designated hitting.

And a few former starting pitchers found teams: Hector Santiago (White Sox), Jaime Garcia (Blue Jays), and Francisco Liriano pitching for new Detroit Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire.

That's the lineup of former major league Twins so far. Unless Bartolo Colon does get the call on April 2nd. Be figuring out minor league guys once rosters are set.

Someone else started a thread of its own, almost at the same time.

I saw that and groaned. A scoreless lining pitched with 2 strikeouts. I'm still mystified why we let him get away. Urrrgghhh!!!

Seeing Kevin Jepsen turn up again with the Rangers was a surprise. I figured he was out of baseball completely. Not regretting that we let him go, but it's nice to see him pitching well again.

Congratulations to Niko Goodrum who hit his first regular season MLB home run yesterday. The Tigers (still can't used to the idea of Gardenhire being their manager!) have been playing him all over the place: at shortstop, first base, and in the outfield. He always was versatile, but I never thought he had this much power. I think he hit 3 or 4 homers in spring training.

I’m on my phone, so I’m doing this from memory. My brother and I met Niko’s dad at Ft. Myers a few years ago. Dad wore a track suit and was a bit of a helicopter dad for being the father of a 20 something young man. Dad’s concern was not Niko’s assignment to a minor league team, but rather whether he would get enough playing time after coming off an injury the previous season.

Niko intrigued me—good size and speed, with some potential to hit for power. Versatile—infield, outfield plus a switch hitter. Good luck to him!

Does a week on the Twins' even count? Does that really make Jaime Garcia a former Twins player? More like stopping at a rest stop on the interstate on the way to the Yankees..... It seems like the player should have at least half a season under ones belt on the team to consider a former Minnesota Twins worthy of following. Even then, they are like a tourist, or trespasser, to me, especially guys like Colon. I was at a Dodger game a couple years back, and they gave away a bobble head of Babe Ruth, who was a third base coach for about a month, apparently, on the last breaths of his MLB career. Seemed criminal.

Thanks for starting this thread. It will be fun to check in on the result of the choices made.

How about Ron Gardenhire, 4-8 with his new team. A comfortable 67 points below what I used to call the Gardenhire line of .400. No danger of Tigers finishing in second place for the manager who once said "I hate second place" while with the Twins and did his best to make sure they didn't finish as high as second.

Anibal Sanchez pitched 6 innings of shutout baseball against the Cubs versus Darvish 4.4 innings and 4 runs in the battle of would be and wanted Twin.  I would postulate that being released by the Twins relit a fire in Sanchez so far this year.

I noticed John Ryan Murphy hit his 2nd home run the other night.

Aaron Hicks had 2 tonight.

Both left-handed, for those who wanted him to give up switch hitting.

Wow haven't heard that name in years. Nice to hear he's still hanging around.

Shane was with the Angels the last two seasons. 20 games last year. 65 the year before. Hit the Mendoza line.
