USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Quick reminder that the sox are the worst team in the AL and 2nd worst in the league. And they unloaded most of their studs. A team in contention should be looking to take 4 games out of 5 in a series like this. 3 wins would be somewhat disappointing. It's unfortunate we've had to start the guys we have, but I guess we should be prepared for this if we qualify for the WC and win.3 of 5 is a reasonable expectation for any team, especially on the road. I'd have taken that before the series started.
Pardon My Dinger Verified Member Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Hey, whatever happened to Genghis Khan?
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Wow I had to think for a solid minute who Jorge was. It really is absurd we're contending even close to September. I remembered Jorge but had to look up Wilk, Tepesch, and Melville (AND HE PITCHED YESTERDAY).
Darius Verified Member Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 What a job to get out of that jam
mickeymental Verified Member Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 everybody back on board the gibson train. woo woo.

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 I would say running the likes of Enns, Melville, Turley, Wilk, Tepesch, Jorge, Gee, and Slegers out there not to mention established garbage such as Hughes, Gibson, and Santiago is reason enough to wonder what could have been if they just had a competent pitching staff.I agree, you won't get any argument from me about believing the front office failed this past offseason. I felt the young players were ready for a step forward, and if not, they likely never would be. But as it is, they're right there for the second WC.

Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Jorge Jorge Jorge Jorge jorrrge!

Completely different conversation but this is why I hate the 2nd wildcard (and the first). Completely flawed teams duking it out to play another game.
TwinsCD Verified Member Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 A Polanco PLUNKO Eh...may need to work on that one.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Unbelievable. 3 Innings, 6 hits and a walk and still only i run. And that wouldn't have scored but for the wild pitch. Decent result but Gibson would be getting toasted by a good team. We're lucky we're playing the White Sox. Roasted, roasted and burnt to a crisp?
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Insert Gee replace GibsonWhy not insert Slegers? Gee is theoretically already in the rotation, not?
snepp Verified Member Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Let's get the early-season Sano back to go with this lineup, filthy.

I remember not so long ago when only divisional winners qualified. Houston would have eliminated us back in May

Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 And under a 3 division system, two WCs work much better than one.Or just scrap divisions and take top 5 or 6 teams. Twins wouldn't have qualified in 87 then, though

Having to win the WC play-in round then be the road team in the LDS is a pretty tough road to hoe. It's nit like the NHL or NBA where the regular season is irrelevant

I worry that Pandora's box has been opened and they'll just let more teams in.
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Crazy thought came to me tonight before game time: This is a good team. They've been above .500 most of the season and have been in the playoff hunt all season. And they've been there all season BECAUSE of the pitching staff. And they haven't "secured" a spot and been as good as they could be BECAUSE of the pitching staff.
