What is a fireable offense?

He pinch-hit Gimenez for Mauer.  As we've learned from the Twins over the years, the backup catcher can ONLY be substituted for the starting catcher.

An interesting stat that was mentioned earlier in the radio broadcast is that with a win today the Twins will accomplish something that they never did last year - win a series against KC. That's awesome to get that done in the first two games of the season.

and along with that they have outscored themselves in the first 9 games from last year 16-14 (so far)...however, 16 walks in two games by the Royals have to drive Yost nuts.

Does Polanco make the play that Escobar just made?

Why would you move Sano to first here?  Wouldn't getting him as many reps, and as comfortable as possible at third be a high priority?

I'm a bit surprised by that too.

According to Bert our favorite bullpen stash Justin Haley is a hard throwing righty. If thats true then we have an entire staff of flame throwers. I had no idea....

I didn't know Gimenez could even play third, I thought he was the backup first basemen. Whatever, it's just one inning.

92 MPH is the fastest pitch he's thrown today. I didn't know that was "hard throwing".

And that's with the new statcast measurements, which are 1-2 MPH faster than last year....

He just hit 93 so that must be the threshold.

Huh. Sano at first and Gimenez at 3rd? That is, unexpected.

Yes, and while it makes my fingers hurt to even type this: Good job by Molitor to give Sano some experience at 1st.

Chris Gimenez, utility player?  Bye bye D-San!

But experience at third should be so much more important.  Sano would be what, fourth, on the 1B depth chart (Mauer, Park, Vargas)?
