TRex Provisional Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Lame. No reason Chargois should be in AAA at all.Hey, maybe history will repeat itself, and the Twins will trade Kintzler and let Chargois and Duffy be co-closers (as they were in college at Rice)!

Willihammer Provisional Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 I think that's a fake-Olney account (according to the replies). Incarcerated Bob has it though...Incarcerated Bob has broken a lot of things over the years but I think this will be his first trade (if true).

Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 @Pat.Light - "The sinners are much more fun"I will withhold my analysis of the trade until I find out Pat Light's opinions on Billy Joel's 1980s-era output...
bluechipper Provisional Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 I'm fine with the Twins hard stance on Santana. If you can't get everyone you want, then keep him as the solid veteran in the rotation for next year. dbminn, Woody Wants Wins and gunnarthor 3

whydidnt Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 You should probably elaborate. Minor league K rate over 9, keeps the ball in the park, and minimizes his walk rate. Might not be that ace upside we want, but certainly looks like he could be a decent starter. The bigger problem I see is that getting guys like that and Mejia, are they going to continue to trot Milone and Nolasco out...Well, he's almost 26 and still in AAA. Baseball Prospectus pegs him as a #4 ML starter. Which is valuable, but also what we seem to have plenty of. Why deal a proven #3 for a guy who might become a #3?
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Twitter is so lame, a bunch of people fire off fake reports/sources in hopes of being "the first" (which really doesn't mean much)Fake and false reports like we have seen today just prove it.

Major League Ready Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 (edited) John Sickels took an in depth look at Pat Light this April, here's the link: http://www.minorleagueball.com/2016/4/25/11500342/boston-red-sox-rookie-pat-light-scouting-report His conclusion: "Overall, if Light maintains his control he should be a useful bullpen asset. If his command maxes out he could close games eventually."That kind of ceiling and 6 years of control for Abad ... That's a pretty solid trade! Sure, a lot of these guys flame out but we just need a couple of the several we have to work out and we will have a great bullpen for several years. Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 No that this has anything to do with the Twins, but the Colin Rea bit is interesting. Don't recall ever seeing something like that before.I thought something like that happened in recent years (an injured player was exchanged?), but I'm not sure I've ever seen a healthy player returned to offset the injured player... wsnydes 1

Major League Ready Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 (edited) If it is the Blue Jays, I'd be very surprised if Reid Foley isn't one of the pieces coming back.I looked yesterday when Toronto was mention and I just don't know why we would trade with them unless Reid-Foley was part of the deal. The deal for Nunez was the same way. If you looked at their prospects, Meija stood out as the target. Edited August 1, 2016 by Major Leauge Ready Otto von Ballpark and gunnarthor 2

Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 (edited) Jeremy's Twitter is also linking a Berardino Tweet about how the Giants have also long had interest in Santana. Jeremy's response is asking for Phil Bickford. That was clearly just spitballing. A good spitball though. Jeremy just retweeted Bickford and Susac for the Brewers' Will Smith. EDIT: And MLBTR confirms:http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/08/giants-acquire-will-smith.html Still makes you wonder what was out there for Perkins a few years ago...
