Tom Froemming Twins Daily Contributor Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Gotta be a Lucroy trade coming .. then Suzuki goes?
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Wouldn't the Giants rather have had Santana? This board would have been in hysteria.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Eric A Longenhagen2:31 Bickford has been 89-92 with a 50 slider and plus command. Barely threw a changeup as an amateur so that pitch is behind. Not sure why so many are in love with him. nicksaviking 1
whydidnt Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Jeremy just retweeted Bickford and Susac for the Brewers' Will Smith.Wow! Are relievers now more valuable than starters? I liked the return for Abad until I saw this one.
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Please tell me that is from the Twins media guide...Jim Pohlad is currently checking that media guide as we speak... Mike Sixel, Tom Froemming, Hosken Bombo Disco and 3 others 6

Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Gotta be a Lucroy trade coming Not necessarily. Susac has been in AAA, and might just be Lucroy insurance for an offseason or 2017 trade. dbminn and Vanimal46 2

Bob Sacamento Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Giants get to control Smith til 2019, BoSox get Abad for 2017. Still makes me like the Cubs-Chapman trade (for the Cubs) the longer the trading goes on. Mike Sixel 1

Barely threw a changeup as an amateur so that pitch is behind. Not sure why so many are in love with him.I could see that he's a bit overrated. But Bickford is still a nice prospect, though, shooting up to #65 on MLB's list. He would have represented good return on Santana (assuming the Giants picked up most of the salary). And Bickford plus an MLB ready catcher in Susac looks like a fantastic haul for Will Smith.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Not necessarily. Susac has been in AAA, and might just be Lucroy insurance for an offseason or 2017 trade.I'm thinking that's going to be the case. Lucroy's not going anywhere until the offseason. wsnydes 1
Jham Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 I will withhold my analysis of the trade until I find out Pat Light's opinions on Billy Joel's 1980s-era output...Oh ho ho, this is your lucky day. Thanks to the magic of Twitter, we know he's for it! Only the good die young!
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 It does show what Perkins might have been worth (discounted as RPs are more valuable now).....
jsimssd72 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Well, he's almost 26 and still in AAA. Baseball Prospectus pegs him as a #4 ML starter. Which is valuable, but also what we seem to have plenty of. Why deal a proven #3 for a guy who might become a #3? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
gocgo Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Doesn't seem to be much chatter about Suzuki.

Primetime82 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 It's to bad we didn't trade Perkins when his value was sky high!!!
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Giants get to control Smith til 2019, BoSox get Abad for 2017.That's probably the least of their differences. Smith had a 12.2 K/9 over the last 3 years. Only 9.0 this year so far, but it has been climbing since his return.

whydidnt Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Come on.....there is no comparison between a healthy Will Smith and Abad......Well, I'd agree that Smith is better than Abad, the difference isn't really that great. Baseball Ref Career ERA+ for Smith 103 - for Abad 110. Career bWAR Smith 0.9, Abad 2.8. The difference is not as great as you'd think, and both these numbers favor Abad. Like I started with I'd rather have Smith, but there really isn't a huge difference in these guy's results.

Only the good die young!"Only the Good Die Young" was from the 1977 album, "The Stranger." If he starts quoting "River of Dreams", we're in trouble. I'll grant minor references to "Uptown Girl" and "We Didn't Start the Fire".

That sounds like a ringing endorsement for the search firm that the Twins just hired! Find us another Stearns somewhere. wsnydes 1
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Question: what Billy Joel song would work well as a reliever's entrance music? "We Didn't Start the Fire" with runners on base, obviously -- but what about the start of an inning?
Jham Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 He's not even in the new Independence Day!I thought someone shot him with his own gun outside a New Orleans restaurant or something... Not a bad return for a deceased defensive end with average pass rush abilities and a penchant for political corruption. cjj td and LaBombo 2
gmarais66 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Per MLB Trade Rumors, the Marlins are now looking for another starter after trading Rea back to the Padres. Maybe they'll be desperate enough, as the clock winds down, to take Nolasco... gunnarthor and Hosken Bombo Disco 2

redstorm Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 MLB.com places Pat Light at #15 on the Twins prospect list. Between Wander Javier and Jake Reed. KirbyHawk75 1
