I'm trying to find which teams are listed most frequently in no trade clauses.  Not finding anything.  Anyone have any insight on this?

Question: what Billy Joel song would work well as a reliever's entrance music?  "We Didn't Start the Fire" with runners on base, obviously -- but what about the start of an inning?

Well I've always thought stadiums should start playing "For the Longest Time" every time Pelfrey started rubbing the seams off a new baseball, walking around the mound, or shaking off the catcher.

Search firms don't do the hire.  They only search for candidates.

Yeah, that's why I said find us another Stearns, and the Twins hired this firm.

gotta be a fake account, Reed retired from pro sports years ago.....was a heck of a WR though.

Haha...always was a fan, perpetually underrated. Though the writing was on the wall once they drafted Randy Moss.

"Only the Good Die Young" was from the 1977 album, "The Stranger."

If he starts quoting "River of Dreams", we're in trouble.  I'll grant minor references to "Uptown Girl" and "We Didn't Start the Fire".

Billy Joel does not like this post

He seems Gonsalves-esque to me.

I have certainly liked what I've seen from the Brewers under Stearns.

Well, he's a year younger and has superior K/9 and K/BB rates to this point than Gonsalves. If offered Bickford for Gonsalves i would say yes without a second thought.

Well, I'd agree that Smith is better than Abad, the difference isn't really that great. Baseball Ref Career ERA+ for Smith 103 - for Abad 110. Career bWAR Smith 0.9, Abad  2.8. The difference is not as great as you'd think, and both these numbers favor Abad.  Like I started with I'd rather have Smith, but there really isn't a huge difference in these guy's results.

I don't think those are the best numbers to evaluate a reliever.

Here are their career numbers in relief:

I'm most interested in that K rate.

Per MLB Trade Rumors, the Marlins are now looking for another starter after trading Rea back to the Padres. Maybe they'll be desperate enough, as the clock winds down, to take Nolasco...

The clock doesn't wind down on adding Nolasco this season until August 31st...

What I meant to say is that search firms will bring in so many "candidates".  Some of those candidates will be filler.  The Twins will prolly hire one of the filler.

Antony will be a candidate.

fwiw, to no one's surprise the Twins were among Lucroy's no-no's and one other potential trade piece as well...

Some have speculated Marlins, but I have no idea.  I think the bigger risk for players is a surprise trade FROM the Marlins.

I think Cot's / Baseball Prospectus has the best contract data, although you'd probably have to comb through team pages manually to find that information -- Lucroy, for example, on the Brewers page:

Nah, I've got to disagree with you. Antony will be a candidate, sure. The candidates the firm will present will not be filler. If that's the case, they made a terrible mistake hiring them.

The firm will screen and qualify 4-5 good candidates along with Antony, and let the Pohlad's make their decision.

Sweet. Another five starts to "rebuild" his value

Dillon Tate for two months of Carlos Beltran?! Come ON!

I'm torn on a Santana trade. I want some action, but I'm also worried Anthony isn't going to get the right value.

Judging by some of these returns we're seeing, what's the right value for Santana now?

I don't think a respected search firm will bring in "filler."  Antony may only be a candidate if the Twins want him to be, he likely would not be one of the recommended candidates from the search firm.

Not necessarily.  Susac has been in AAA, and might just be Lucroy insurance for an offseason or 2017 trade.

True, spycake. Having Susac also gives the Brewers negotiating flexibility and leverage with any potential Lucroy trade partners right now. They don't look nearly as desperate, now that they have a mlb-ready C. They also don't need to get a C in return - should open up negotiations.

We used Korn Ferry at my place. So you say the new GM has to keep the Manager.  Then he is told that Antony is still on staff.  There will be filler.

There's always filler in baseball as guys are recycled.

Maybe it is a bit of an F off to Lucroy?  Oh, you don't want to beat out an up and coming player?  Fine, we'll add just that!
