This will be my shortest Game Thread Opener Ever.

It's game 160.

At this point... The coaches are not going to change Brian Dozier's swing. There simply isn't enough time to make these adjustments. The Twins are what they are and what they are gonna be and what they are is good enough to be in contention for a playoff spot going into the final weekend.

I can go over the records and all the possibilities but you know them all. The Angels have the Rangers and the Astros have the D-Backs and the Twins have the Royals... We all know that.

There is no need for 5 thoughts today. There is just one thought and one thought only.

So... Here is something to think about:

We're Gonna WIN TWINS... We're gonna Score!!!

I'm going to the game tonight.  Going to pick up my zubaz* and my stocking hat and cheer my butt off.  This should be a fun game.

*Zubaz will not be worn outside of the privacy of my own home.

What happens if the Twins, Angels and Astros finish in a 3 way tie?

Bonnes and Gleeman covered this on their podcast last week.  IIRC, the Angels hold the tiebreaker over both teams, so they get to choose from the following scenarios;

1--they can play both the Twins and Astros, both at home

2--they can play the winner of the Twins/Astros game, at the winner

I personally don't see any scenario in which the Angels would choose option 1, which would mean, since the Twins have the tie-breaker with the Astros, we would host Houston in Game 163, and then the winner would host the Angels in Game 164 (Game 163B?)

How's #1 work?  Let's assume they choose it, play the Twins first and lose.

What next?  Twins host the Astro's? Other way around?

Also in #2 who gets to host the Twins/Astro's game?

Barbershop quartets………….why America…….why?!!

True -- we do not have Canada's perfect record of producing great musicians.

The Twins backs are up against the wall yet again. Even if they "win out" they may not win the Wild Card, because

1) The Angels are playing the Rangers who just clinched, and everyone knows what happens to teams that just clinched: they let down mentally, they play a few reserves, they get ready for games that really matter.

2) Houston plays the Diamonbacks (nuff said?).

3) However, The Twins play The Royals who have also clinched (just not recently), so they may have have some let down issues as well.

1) Win game 1.

2) Win game 2.

3) Win game 3.

4) Stars align, chips fall, confetti gets thrown and champagne drunk - by one? two? or three teams?

Fun to watch.

Just a little thing to add to your points:

1). The Rangers have indeed clinched a playoff spot, but if they were to lose out they may not win their division.  They need one more win or a Houston loss to claim their division.  So, the Rangers are playing to ensure that they don't end up playing a 1 game playoff.

2). Houston is playing Arizona... in Arizona.  So, no DH.  Also, Houston is 31-47 so far on the road this year.  Arizona also has a shot to finish the season at .500, which I'm sure they're going to try for.

3). Unfortunately, the Royals have a chance to get the best record in the American league and secure home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Just some things to consider.  No team is really going to roll over, even if they're already in the playoffs or already out.  So, who knows, but it should be an exciting weekend in baseball.

American "Barbershop" quartets NOW bring to mind "Ice Cube and three Fooos" in the movie!

You have taken my rough views (which I had thought were refined) and refined them into shape. Thank you.

I believe the Twins have the tie-breaker over the Astros, so if the Angels went for option 1, they would host the Astros.  If LA wins, they then host the Twins.  If the Astros win, they then go to Target Field.

In #2, the Twins would host against the Astros.  If the Twins win, they then host the Angels.  If the Astros win, then Houston hosts the Angels.

If you read this somewhere, then i believe, but the question I would have then ,is why if the Twins win vs Houston then LA comes to Minnesota, but if Houston beats LA they still have to come to Minnesota, so I would have thought if, in the scenario that LA decides to host 2 home games if they win first one,  is used and Houston won, why would Houston then not host Minnesota???

I just wanted to further add to the discussion. I probably wouldn't have thought about all that if I hadn't read your post.

Good teamwork.

I found this, It goes like this:

Team B @ Team A

Team C @ Winner of A/B

Angels would have first selection, followed by Astro's, then Twins.

Basically it would be Twins @ Astro's then Angels @ Winner of Twins or Astro's.
