Good for him! Another 2 strike home run for Dozier! Glad to see him making the most of his chance, was worried he wouldn't get in the game earlier in the night. In classic 2015 Dozier fashion it was a solo HR as well :)

Dozier is still proving he should have been voted in. He's making a name for himself now and this'll be the first of many All-Star appearances for him.

Also, I think it's time I got a new Twins jersey. I'm going with Dozier, if I do.

I think Dozier might have blown Perkins save opportunity.

Do they keep track of Blown Saves for 2Bmen?

Mrs. Stringer Bell just bought a Dozier jersey for me. Pretty good timing!

I'm not sure how much I believe in "clutch", but I will be damned if Dozier doesn't find a way to hit home runs in a lot of his "big at bats", hopefully he has a couple for us in October too :)

How about those Perkins and Dozier contracts?

I would say I would be looking forward to game 7 in Minnesota this year in the world series, but pretty sure they will win in 4 or 5 anyways.

A man with your powers of jinxing should never make a comment like that.

But by the way ... I like the streak you're on!

Well, i think we came out pretty good on both, i was worried about Perkins this yr tho, since he had some type of injury preseason, dont remember what it was............too bad we didnt get one or two yrs of options on Dozier, I like the 4 yr deal and alot of people still wanted to wait, Thank goodness we didnt..............................I would have to look back, but i dont even remember if i thought it was a good idea to extend him or not, but i do know I did think we got a good deal on the 4 yrs.........I think i was on the fence of waiting or not.

Not to get too off topic, but because The next 3 years of doziers contract is known, it also makes it easier for the twins to give him a new contract that locks up his first year or two of free agency in exchange for giving him some more cash in the first 3 years.

The 2015 MLB All Star Game kicked off this evening at 7:00 E.T. in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Twins were represented well by their power hitting second baseman Brian Dozier (.256/. 328/. 513) and their clutch closer Glen Perkins (zero blown saves with a 1.29 ERA).

Brian Dozier was selected as a reserve after the Blue Jay’s Jose Bautista injured his wrist while Glen Perkins was selected as a relief pitcher for the American League team. The Twins headed into the All Star Break nine games above .500 with a first place lead in the A.L Wild Card. The winning team will earn home field advantage for their league in the World Series this year, giving the Twins an incentive for the A.L to come out on top. Before the game, various greats from each team were honored in a segment known as the Franchise Four Campaign. The Twins’ Franchise Four included: Kirby Puckett, Harmon Killibrew, Tony Oliva, and Rod Carew. A highlight reel of the former players’ heroics was shown across the screen in less than ten seconds as the video moved on to the next featured team.

This Twins fan watching the All-Star Game simply for coverage of their beloved team would now have to wait until the eighth inning for any mention of the words Minnesota and baseball in the same sentence.

Mike Trout got on the board early for the American League with a leadoff homerun off of National League Starting Pitcher Zach Greinke. Trout’s homerun would be the only scoring until the bottom of the second when Jhonny Peralta of the Cardinals came up with a two out bloop-single to drive in Diamondbacks First Baseman Paul Goldschmidt. In the top of the fifth, Trout would wreak havoc again, this time scoring on a Prince Fielder two-out single. The A.L. would tack on another run before the inning ended after Lorenzo Cain of Kansas City double home Fielder. An Andrew McCutchen homerun would bring the N.L margin to one. The A.L. would make it a 5-2 lead in the following inning after the Orioles Manny Machado and Boston’s Brock Holt came around to score.

At last, the eighth inning arrived and in came Brian Dozier. In his first at-bat, the second baseman crushed the ball over the fence in deep center and proved that he belonged on the team with a homerun. The American League then led the game 6-2. Dozier became the 16th player in MLB history to hit a homer in his first All-Star Game at bat.

Glen Perkins would come on in the ninth inning for a non-save situation. After giving up a leadoff triple to Milwaukee Brewers Ryan Braun. Braun would score on a sacrifice fly, but Perkins would regain his composure to close out the inning, ending the game 6-3 in favor of the American League.

The American league takes the game and gains home field advantage in the World Series for their respective team. The Twins contributed with a homerun from Dozier and an inning pitched from Perkins. If Minnesota stays with their winning ways, the team may be able to utilize that home field advantage come October.

Did they even mention Dozier's name before the ball was leaving the yard?  Too busy talking about players who weren't even still in the game.

Good for Dozier! Does this mean he has 20 homers at the All-Star break?

Perkins was getting tagged! No missing bats at all. Lucky they didn't have a one run lead. Must be the no save situation and lack of focus, eh?

Who would you rather have as a closer? Perkins.... or Chapman?

After attempting to say as little about Dozier and the Minnesota Twins as possible, Joe Buck responds to the home run by interjecting, "That is a disgusting act by Brian Dozier, and it's unfortunate that we had to air it live."

One of the best things about this is he got a post-game interview to show what a good speaker he is, as well. I hope MLB finds a way to make use of that. The kid is a pretty fine representative of the game.

Perkins performance must have been tied to not being able to throw to Kurt Suzuki...

I'm very happy to have Perkins as the Twins' closer, but I can't say I would mind Chapman in the role either. If the Twins had a shot at trading for Chapman, which would they demote to be the set up guy?

Rotate...because you could
