  1. Not sure I understand the argument against Span. His contract ($11 million) might be slightly more than ideal but it's about the same as Torii's reunion tour ($10.5 million), and he's still only 33. The posting fee for Park was $12.85 million for goodness' sake! Our payroll is more than $20 million below league average! So what if we overpay by a couple of million for a productive asset? Rosario-Buxton-Span is a very solid outfield. Especially considering Span knows and likes Target Field. In his 3 years with the Twins at Target field (hasn't returned since) he hit: Target Field Season 2010 .302 .264 2011 .286 .264 2012 .332 .283 I understand batting average isn't the best metric, but there's certainly a pattern here. The Twins had the youngest average batter's age in the playoffs last year. A little experience could help this team, especially if/when we hit a rough patch in the season. Also, from the little I know, he's a hard working guy which, from what I've heard, is something some of our guys could use a little bit more of. Not saying we should chase the guy, but what's with all the negativity?
  2. Here is the link to the petition in support of keeping Claeys as Head Coach. http://petitions.moveon.org/sign/keep-tracy-claeys-as "A reasonable stance taken by Coach Claeys in a no-win situation is not a reason for dismissal. Please share the link to the petition. It's important to get the word out that Coach Claeys has supporters."
  3. Any thoughts on Amazon? Lots of news coming out lately about different projects like their new grocery store concept. Echo and dot commercials seem to be on all of the time as well. Might be overvalued with that high PE but is there any doubt Amazon is the company of the future?
  4. What's the trading platform of choice for those who are relatively active?
  5. The Rays and Red Sox both started 0-6 that season and both finished with 90+ wins. The Rays made it to the playoffs that year.
  6. Fun Fact: The last two teams to start their seasons 0-6 actually did end up winning 90+ games 2011 Rays: 91-71 2011 Red Sox: 90-72
  7. That seemed kind of unnecessary
  8. just not a smart play.
  9. "you haven't even mentioned my birthday"-Bert *mutes T.V.*
  10. The bats are going to be on fire today. Plouffe is going to have a big night.
  11. I understand that. But if it didn't influence the outcome, it shouldn't influence the outcome. That's why I disagree with how it was handled last night. The MLB shouldn't complicate it, just let the umpires use a little discretion on those judgement plays, that's why they're there.
  12. The issue for me is that it looks like the runner would have been safe at first even if Bautista hadn't touched the second baseman and what Bautista did couldn't hurt him. So no harm no foul... right?
  13. If the Twins leave the meetings with Sipp and Davis I'd be a very happy camper.
  14. Yet they beat them both on the road...
  15. Congrats! So do you go off of your gut and those tips or do you have a big computer program? I've also given it some thought but with the recent news it seems a little sketchy.
  16. There have been times to say this, now is not one. They paid what it took to get the player they wanted...
  17. Welcome Byung! Makes you wonder where the other projections were coming from?
  18. I guess I'm in the minority on this one but I didn't mind it for a guy like Jeter. I was at both his farewell regular season game at target field when they gave him (the last?) 2nd base from the Metrodome and at the All-Star Game when he waved goodbye. Was it a little much? Maybe. But he's a legend of the game. Ortiz however doesn't deserve anything like that imo.
  19. I would certainly be on board for this. If he were on the Twins last year he probably could have been our team MVP (2015 WAR-2.6 Twins best: Plouffe 2.5). At the risk of being brutalized by the "numbers guys", I'm also a little worried about what the clubhouse vibe will be next year. I think Torii had a huge impact on the team in that department and I'm not sure where that fire will come from this year. I think Ben has the potential to be that leader in the clubhouse that I think the Twins will greatly miss next year.
  20. I think some of the reason he was mad was that he was playing so well and then the Nats went out to get more help, he got shafted. Maybe if he was traded and came to MN knowing he would split work with Jep and Perk he wouldn't be as opposed. Papelbon being a well known P.O.S probably didn't help the situation in D.C.. Worth a call for Terry imo.
  21. Do you actually believe the Hicks trade won't help the club next year and in the future?
  22. Expect some strong tags! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPPL8WoBdcc
  23. Honest question. Why is it such a common belief that Hicks has "turned the corner"? By looking at his batting average monthly splits on FG no corner seems to have been turned, other than a very strong July. May- .259 June- .229 July- .346 Aug- .213 Sep/Oct- .226 1st Half- .266 2nd Half- .250 I am not trying to hate on Hicks. He could very well become an All-Star, but the Twins have about 5 other guys with that potential if not greater and we had no readily available catching talent.
  24. I believe that's in reference to the Park posting fee.
