Hopefully they can avoid another atrocious bullpen blow up and take the series today. Go Twins!

Shelton was asked after the game if he felt the team had the personnel needed in the bullpen to do what he wanted to do. He said yes, but the issue was finding the proper way to use them. I disagree but if that's his take, it's on him and Maki to figure that out, and we're halfway through the season. (Granted a lot of churn.) Getting Gomez up twice in two games to simply not use him to me indicates a bit of second guessing. I get it.. there's lots to reflect on.

You could always Ask Pablo.

Shelton has been using this line for the last month or so.  At some point, like now you just need to say this is your role to each reliever.  If it doesn't work, switch out a period of time but not two games.  Yes the options are not optimal and some days the plan will fall apart.  But it is easier to adjust when you have a plan, when you have no plan then you are just shooting darts.  Yesterday was a great example, Fundy was going to have to face Goodman as he was the third scheduled hitter, just put in your best option not the LH to face the first two LH scheduled hitters.  It probably should have been Banda or Morris to come in if they had a real plan and defined roles.

Because the Twins do not have the personnel they need in the bullpen, but it doesn't help anybody to come out and say the bullpen is filled with mostly waiver wire worthy guys who are making their last go 'round in the big show.

Read my whole post, I explained a solution to this line despite sub optimal options.

Shelton gave the only answer that puts the responsibility on him. I doubt he actually believes it, but his other 2 choices were criticizing Zoll, or his own players.

St. Paul updates from Theo Tollefson:

Gabby Gonzalez left yesterday's game early with a stiff neck and is considered day-to-day.

Ricky Castro lands on the 7-day IL with a right rotator cuff strain.

And #MNTwins number two prospect, Kaelen Culpepper, is back in the lineup at DH.

Yes. Shelton is being polite. He stands by the guys he has, but he doesn't pick the team. He also needs to be cognizant of all factors in player usage. Everyone makes mistakes but maybe less second guessing ....

Is this a good time to remind TD that nobody who has posted on this site has ever had even a smidgeon of baseball knowledge  to compare to someone like Shelton? I say that as someone who had over 50 years of various experiences in the game. We just like baseball and enjoy effing around with our thoughts.

Correct. It isn't a good time as no time is. Sorry.

Could have left Rogers in to face the two LHB to lead off the inning, he'd only thrown 9 pitches and looked decent. Or go with Banda, it was a 3-2 game in the 7th at this point, you should be ready to roll with your best - Banda, Morris, and Gomez.

You also said we're all just effing around.  This is a game thread, where that goes double.  Enjoy.

Voice sounded like sports dad --  Judd Zolgad ,   and being it was a  good question makes sense ,  and yes Shelty  had to say what was  for the Team and  management,    but thats the kind of things that should be asked !!!!!!!!!!
