What on earth is going on with this Davis Martin guy? He's suddenly breaking out at age 29 after several years of mediocrity. Three of his pitches have run values well into positive numbers after years of "meh".

Well my snarky response was going to be, 'Because he hasn't faced the Twins yet'.

But then checking his opponents, it possibly does shed some light:

Not exactly great competition he's been facing. Still, those numbers would be impressive against AAA players.

Wasn't he a rule 5 pick up for the Sox? Prielipp will need to give them a good outing tonight. Runs will be hard to come by.

Update:  Looks like Martin will be pushed back a day.  The White Sox are calling up David Sandlin from AAA Charlotte to make the start tonight.  Hopefully a boost for us against Prielipp.

Maybe he has learned to locate them? Or throw them all with the same motion so the batter can't read which it is until it's too late, or maybe he has a catcher who knows how to call his game? Or a little bit of everything?

Brooks Lee is at third base, not returning to shortstop. Tristan Gray is at shortstop, just like yesterday.

Not changed (and still weird): Kody Clemens making his first career start in center field, while Austin Martin stays in right field.

Kody Clemens has one career inning in CF and is getting the starting nod there tonight.  Are the Twins finally short on Outman?

If we'd had healthier outfielders in SP, Outman likely would have been off the roster by now, IMO.

But, here we are.  Clemens in CF sounds to me like a disaster just waiting to happen. 

It's become increasingly clear that they don't trust Fedko, either.

He has no starts in CF in college or minors or majors. He played 1 inning last year for the Twins. I hope he looks good enough so that they utilize the pinch runner/center field spot differently.

It also kinda feels like the kind of thing you do when you feel like Buxton will be back patrolling CF soon.

I'm skeptical on that, for obvious historical reasons, but I don't know why you'd go this far off the books unless you're like "we'll just do it this one time"
