There was also an article in early spring after the money started flowing that they were in the market for a backup shortstop and many scoffed, including me. The more we talked about it, a Jose Iglesias would have really really looked nice, but still not completely a shortstop discussion. This is a Dallas Kuechel move, someone to buy some time and maybe catch a small bit of lightning. And a move like this is required when an Iglesias was not previously secured. Kyle Farmer, we kinda miss you. Every year, a new combination of injuries creates something weird. I had to look. Farmer batting .345 in Colorado.. the worst team in MLB. What would you have done with that player while CC was healthy? I don't think this is easy at you think. Most backups are unproven or not good. Especially on teams with budget limits. They have Lee and Castro. It's unrealistic to get another guy, who is MLB proven, and have him sit around. They have Royce Lewis, too. All 3 guys are better than anyone they would have acquired as a free agent stash. Mike Sixel 1

mikelink45 Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2025 Posted April 17, 2025 The next poll for TD - How many games will Correa play over his six year contract? So far he has played 239/343 70%. He is signed through 2028 - that is 972 games - 676 games at current rate, but after a good first year he dropped significantly last year - the trend is not good. Blyleven2011 and In My La Z boy 2

LambchoP Verified Member Posted April 17, 2025 Posted April 17, 2025 This would have been the perfect opportunity for Eeles to make his debut. Injuries suck. They always seem to come in bunches too :(. Hopefully Correa and Castro can avoid the IL otherwise our lineup is going to look very pathetic and our already terrible IF defense will hurt as well.
Jasper Verified Member Posted April 17, 2025 Posted April 17, 2025 Is Martin close to leaving IL? He at least has played some SS and 2B.

There were veteran options available instead of Gasper! Come on, that’s the move he made and now Gasper is indispensable? That just shows two things; Twins aren’t serious about contending, and Falvey is a terrible judge of talent. I'm not the biggest Falvey fan, but the Twins are certainly enjoying Harrison Bader & Ty France. RpR, Althebum82 and Doc Lenz 3

Here's Julien's chance to seize the every day starting 2B job. It has been an ugly lineup for most of the season , with the switch of Julien leading off and wallner moved down a few spots it was starting to look better ... Now injuries again and the lineup might look ugly again ... Again why aren't these players reporting their injuries , Miranda injured but not reported until he gets demoted , Correa dealing with wrist last year and I'm sure the team was notified but thought rest was the answer , now he may be headed to IL list ...
jorgenswest Verified Member Posted April 17, 2025 Posted April 17, 2025 Bride has a career OPS of .640 with a career split where he has an OPS of .711 against right handed pitching and .517 against left handed pitching. That much reverse split didn’t make sense so I looked at his last three AAA seasons and he has hit right handed pitching better than left handed pitching each year. He hasn’t hit left handed pitching so he can’t platoon with Julien nor should he ever pinch hit for Julien. His career defensive metrics center suggest he is an average defender. He is out of options and will likely be DFA’d when the Twins get some of their left side of the infield back. Seems like a reasonable temporary solution for 3B against right handed pitching. Not worth what is is paid. Two teams were going to sign him then backed out after physical. I guess they were smarter than the Twins. With this latest injury my long shot dream of him agreeing to a trade are dashed. Who would want him, especially at that price. mikelink45 1

Supposedly Correa had some outside interest in the offseason, should he be willing to waive his NTC. Reportedly there was also outside interest in Buxton as well. Missed opportunities? Only time will tell. One thing is certain as long as the Twins have the Pohlads as owners and retain Lopez, Correa, and Buxton, and they don't get a new TV deal, this team is not spending any significant money improving the club without trading one of the three above. He told Nightengale that he’s been dealing with it since late last year.” https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/04/twins-acquire-jonah-bride.html if Correa is down for a long time, Twins infield defense is in trouble. Did FO know about this? If so, why didn’t Falvey do something about it in the offseason? FO malpractice if injury history is true. This is a pattern with Correa: long stretches of poor performance that he retroactively blames on an a secret injury. I'm sure he didn't tell the FO because it's not true, he's just looking to avoid accountability for being completely unprepared to start the season for the 4th year in a row. NotAboutWinning 1
