Not trying to sound like a downer, but I really didn't see anyone available for the rotation that seemed feasible or smart. Is an arm like Lorenzen was the best we could have hoped/tried for I would just as soon stick with Festa/Varland/Matthews/Dobnak/Paddack and call it a day. I was interested in Kikuchi as someone who could help in the rotation, and then maybe the pen, but not much else.

White Sox don't want to trade within the division, and do we really want to give Detroit some quality prospects to haunt us for the next several years to add a rental in Flaherty?

I'm not saying I would be happy, but I'd be content if they could find a way to come up with/afford a single, solid, quality LH arm that we could send to the mound from the pen without feeling compelled to gnaw at knuckles or fingernails.

Rodney Dobnak looks like the add  LMAO

In addition to Rodney, don't forget about Randy...he could be the difference maker!😜

I would not at all have been happy with a 33 year old reliever with 1 good MLB season who hasn't pitched in the majors at all this year as the deadline pickup. I don't view him as "like a trade deadline pickup" at all. I view him as a wild card lottery ticket we hope is useful this year.

For a player to be named later?  Sure, I'd be happy with that kind of pickup.  Late bloomer.  Its not like he had 6 years of mediocrity and then had one good year.  His first really major league time led to a very good season.

I mean, he had 3 years of less than mediocrity because he couldn't even stick in the majors. I don't want anybody the Twins can add for a PTBNL. That doesn't increase this team's odds of winning the World Series. That's exactly why I wouldn't be happy with a Topa addition at the deadline. That just doesn't raise the ceiling on this team. They need top line talent, not guys you can get for a PTBNL.

You would think watching the pitching staff get absolutely throttled last night would’ve driven home the message.  Guess not.

Nobody will like this, but stick a fork in this team.  They needed career first halves out of 3/4 of the lineup, including Correa, and Ryan, Ober, SWR, and some of the relievers to stay within 5.5 games of the division and barely hang onto a wild card spot.  The regression is coming and this team very well could be on the outside looking in.

What an epic disappointment and garbage ownership group (bUt DoNt SaY tHeYrE cHeAp).  They sold this rebuild cycle since drafting Royce, and they yank the rug out just when it gets rolling.  Absolute joke.

This is a rather schizophrenic post.  The Twins needed career years up and down the roster just to barely get a wild card spot, but also the rebuild cycle is rolling?  If you truly believe what you wrote in your second paragraph (about sticking the fork in), then why would you want them to spend bullets on a lost cause?  Shouldn't the play be to sell to buttress the clearly approaching rebuild, or at the very least stand pat and build in the offseason?

The Twins are going to sit this one out. It is what it is.

Hopefully...

1. Correa gets back soon.

2. Stewart works through the rust.

3. Topa can be effective.

4. Duran is more consistent.

5. SWR and Festa can handle the pressure.

I'd add to this 1. Lopez can regain his old form.
If these things don't happen the Twins aren't making it past the wild card regardless of any trades.

There is a 60% chance of the Twins get an ace by the deadline, but there's only a 20% chance of that happening.

If no big time starter moves, I'm willing to assume prices were astronomical.  Got it, pivot.

Interesting in this Marlins move is that Scott hasn't gone yet and the Orioles are probably out in him.  What does a package deal of Scott and the Nard-dawg cost? Something similar to this I'd have to assume.

Two stud lefties added to pen changes the complexion of everything.

Its basically taking a flyer on finding the next Caleb Thielbar.

I'd love for top line talent too.  I'd also love to be a professional golfer and make millions of dollars.

Yeah, that wouldn't excite me.

Difference is the Twins are choosing not to add top line talent. I assume you're not actively choosing not to be a professional golfer and make millions of dollars. The Twins are making a choice. They could add if they were willing to make the sacrifices needed.

Scott and Nardi would be nice.  Would take quite a package though.  Even average relievers are returning quite a haul.  It'd probably take a set of prospects that most fans wouldn't love to see go.

BAL got him cheap

Pretty similar to a Twins offer of Tanner Schobel and Austin Martin.  Marlins probably still take the Orioles deal.

To get him, its probably would have had to offer Keaschall and Austin Martin.

Either way I wouldn't call it cheap.

I'm sure some don't.

Only one team in the league without a trade...

I guess that must mean the FO must think they're already the best team.... disappointing.

Shouldn't shoot the messenger and that's all Falvey and Levine are at this point. But when they come out, 'we really like our team', someone needs to ask them - so that means every other team in the sport didn't like their roster?
