    I think this only included head to head tiebreakers. Multi-team tiebreakers are based off winning percentage against all the tied teams. As long as the Mariners aren't in the tie, if the Twins end in any tie, they will almost assuredly will win the tie breaker. The scenarios where they would end in a tie, but NOT have the tiebreaker are pretty absurd (except with Seattle, obviously).

    If the field isn't a lake they will play. Might be something pop up to today but no more than a delay. I hope That area has had a TON of rain all week.

    Any.thoughts on Sabato if some reason they decide Jenkins or Rodriguez isn't ready? Plugging Sabato in at 1B or DH against lefties could really be a big boost to this offense if his minor league breakout transitions to the majors.

    For next year, Jackson is definitely replaceable. For playoffs this year, not so much. Gotta convince me that having 3 catchers this year reduces the playoff chances this year before I would send Jackson packing.

    We have organizational depth everywhere else man. At catcher we are talking about 1 injury and then a guy getting dinged up for a couple of days and having to start a guy in the playoffs with a career, minor league OPS of 0.623 and a K rate higher than 30% and no power. Think of how much you would hate Kriedler being a playoff SS starter and not just a defensive replacement. Kriedler has FAR better minor league stats than Banuelos has.

    Oh come on. 1 catcher injury and another catcher getting dinged up is FAR more likely than the plethora of organizational OF depth all getting hurt. What is the downside to my alternative idea of sending Martin down? You conveniently ignored that in order to just take a pot shot.

    Yeah, that could work. Then Jeffers or Caratini get dinged up in in game 1 of the playoffs and Banuelos has to fill in. If playoffs were out of the picture, it's a no brainer. And it really hasn't been a concern carrying 3 catchers until Buxton is back. Twins always had the gaping Roden hole to fill so if they wanted a minor leaguer up, keeping 3 catchers doesn't hurt. Honestly, I would maybe send Martin down for a bit in that scenario now. You would want Jenkins, Larnach and Buxton to get plenty of OF time plus you would still have Keaschall and Clemens (and Kriedler). If you wanted Sabato over Jenkins, you still have plenty of OF of you sent Martin down. He has been struggling (until Monday), so it might actually help him and he could come right back up Sep 1.

    Jackson is a tough one. Holding up a roster spot, but if they lose him completely and Jeffers or Caratini get hurt, the cupboard is bare. Scrounging the waiver wire perhaps.

    I am not 100% perfect, but since mid July, any time I start bad mouthing the team or a certain player, the turn it around, at least for a bit.

    Who's your backup SS if Kriedler goes down? Martin? Lee? Clemens? I think he definitely stays but should barely play. Defensive replacement late in games or break glass in case of emergency. Unless Ben Ross can play good SS defense, if he can, then I would agree. Or if they call up Marek Houston. Roden for Jenkins, Sabato, Rodriguez, frankly anyone is long overdue.

    I mean, it could very well be reality. Angels didn't want to get rid of Neto, but if they could get Jenkins, why not do it? Twins wanted Neto if they could get him for a bargain, but for Jenkins, now way. There is nothing laughable about either team's position. If I'm the Angels and the Twins don't offer Jenkins, I'm saying no. If I'm the Twins and the Angels demand Jenkins, I'm saying now. I guess I don't see what is laughable about it.

    I don't think I would trade $3.5M today for Klein and Pena, honestly.

    How does everyone know that the Hoffman money led to higher level prospects. Maybe the Blue Jays insisted on Hill and would have walked away for anyone less. Maybe the Twins THEM got them to throw in cash.

    That's fair. Just pointing out that it doesn't mean every individual position group has to be upgraded or payroll increase. I mean if they signed Seiya Suzuki, Skubal and traded for Hunter Goodman, I would be fine with the in house IF options.

    Call him up to DH against lefties. Royce is good at 1B. If Royce could play elsewhere against lefties, let Sabato play but I don't know if there is anyone else you would put at DH against lefties.

    Only place they can improve from the outside is the infield? Nothing else would count in your mind?

    I'm sure he has a lot of bad metrics, but baseball-reference.com shows him as not a bad 3B. Awfull SS, but not that bad at 3B. Statcast also has him as an average fielding 3B.

    I don't believe their is a recent comp to Lackey debuting in 2027. Even the Kyle Teel path puts him at a 2028 debut. Mike Zunino drafted in 2012 and debuted in 2013. Was a decent defensive catcher but his hitting was pretty bad is first three years. Also called up on a really bad Mariners team in 2013. Unlikely he would have gotten called up on a decent team.

    I like that point. Ryan is fiery. Maybe don't want that rubbing off as much. Lopez is calm and honestly fantastic when he was in the TV booth a couple weeks ago. That kind of presence could be a huge deal with all the young arms. Ryan can probably bring a lot too, but it is a different personality.

    Fine with Rodriguez, but not Wallner. Sheesh. "probably as good as Roden"? Seriously. I'm 44, overweight but was a bench player on a small HS baseball team. I could probably match his OPS+ I also think Jenkins could match Martin, even early on. I say bring Jenkins up, play him almost every day. There is room for him, Buxton, Keaschall, Larnach and even Rodriguez with 3 OF spots and DH.
