    If you can trade for Jeffers and replace him, it might be fun. But you would have to pay a LOT for a guys like Goodman.

    Okay, if he has turned it around, maybe. He must have been truly awful before that. Actually fantastic in May and July and only one bad game in June. Truly awful in March and April.

    Good point. Maybe Funderburk goes down, or maybe they trade Rogers? I doubt Prielipp can go the rest of the way in the rotation, though.

    Yeah, I don't think this eliminates a Robbie Ray or even Reid Detmers type pickup at all.

    Could even pair him up with Prielipp to limit Prielipps innings. Let them each go 3-4 innings. One note, on his first time through the order this year, Kramer has a .406 Babip. Exceptionally bad luck. 2nd and 3rd time he Babip is way low, but he is giving up. A crap load of HRs. Could be a great pairing with Prielipp.

    Prielipp is nearing a career high in innings. Put him in the pen is what I would say. See if the coaches can tweak a few things. I am guessing they see something off after his injury and believe they can fix it. If they can't, they probably put him in the pen. Fretting over and 18 year old who is organizationally a top 10-20 prospect is silly.

    Lets assume he's healthy, then I say go out and get him, but the price would be sky high. Ace level pitcher available for basically a 3/52 contract for 2027-29. Someone mentioned Emma, Abel, Hill and Keaschall. Maybe but I doubt it. Jump all over that one. Probably only works if Reds are worried about his injury. If I am Cincy, I start of with this (knowing Jenkins is off the table). Prielipp, Larnach, Tait and Hill Would I do that with the twins? Maybe. How about Larnach, Tait, Hill and Brandon Winokur?

    Out of curiousity, would anyone make this trade today? Varland for Dasan Hill and Hendry Mendez?

    Yeah, Twins got Lackey because of a lucky lottery. If the Twins made every trade except Varland last year, they still probably get him. Every other trade was defensible in some way. The only way the Varland trade was defensible is if they were certain Rojas was the next Johan Santana. He might be, but not likely. Rojas as of today has not shown he can be a #2-3 starter, so that sentence makes no sense. In a year or 2, he may show that and in retrospect we'll view this trade fondly

    Bullpen has been really good lately, but what a stretch to the Varland trade isn't a disaster so far. Rojas turning into a Top 1-2 starter is the only way I'll feel better about it.

    An AAAA player who may never get a may never get a MLB debut? He's having a fantastic season and it'd be super cool if he went from bust to everyday MLB starter, but its just not likely to happen. I think anyone could have had him in the Rule V draft, right? Or was he actually a free agent? I thought I remember the Twins definitely leaving him available to anyone, but I could be wrong.

    Now lets go get Kirby Yates for a couple pieces like that. And/or Robbie Ray and move Prielipp to the pen the rest of the year.

    Good point. If the Twins make the Mets pay most of his salary, maybe its Winokur instead of Amick, which would have stunk. Great trade. Best case Amick ends up like Koskie and we're disappointed. Much more likely Amick is the next Sabato.

    Given July performances and the fickle nature of relievers, if they really want to be buyers, they need to focus on the bats. Could still trade Jeffers if its part of a plan to upgrade the offense overall. Or, lets start giving some AAA a shot, not even just the big names. Rosario, Ross, Mendez would be better than Gray and Roden right now. Lee kinda slumping to, so could move Royce to 3B freeing up 1B/DH. Hell, see if Wallner can mash for a bit.

    Unfortunately it's the kind of price you are going to pay for good, controllable relievers. Maybe because of his age, Raya and Debarge gets you there.

    We could next year. I was using it as a way to show what the Jays could get if Varland has another full year as good as Mason Miller.

    Let's right a wrong and go get Varland. Opening offer is Rojas and Roden. Actual deal is Rodriguez, Raya and CJ Culpepper. Used the Mason Miller trade as a starting point. That was Miller and a mid rotation starter for a package like Jenkins, Dasan Hill, Kendry Rojas and CJ Culpepper. #1, only asking for Varland. #2 Miller was elite for 1.5 years. Varland has only been that level for half a year. I think my trade offer is good. Maybe even swap on Soto to replace Raya of the Jays insist. Why I do it? Varland for Roden/Rojas is only a positive if Rojas becomes a 1 or 2 DP long term. Its embarrassing. Rodriguez, Raya (or Soto) and CJ Culpepper for Roden and Rojas looks like a sweet deal for the Jays, but it's a trade loss I can deal with. What do ya think? If the Jays think Varland stays at this level until next July, he would have one year less control. A trade similar to Miller could be Varland and a mid rotation starter For Lackey, Hill, Soto and Ellwonger Do the Jays take that risk or do they jump on a deal now.

    I'm sure the original poster was joking. I wouldn't even want Miller at his price. But lets just pretend the Twins do and have some fun. Doing a bit of research and piggybacking off of a few articles speculating for other teams, here is what I've got. Culpepper, Prielipp, Quick, Hill and Young Jenkins, Hill, Young, Agbayani Culpepper, Hill, Rojas, Young Jenkins, Houston, Soto I don't think anything realistic is worth it.

    Going cheap on BP help is the way to go (or addons to other trades). Twins bullpen has been awfully good in July. I can't find specific bullepen status, but overally pitching staff has had their best month by far. ERA, OBA, OOBP, OSLUG, OOPS, SV%. If you look at SPs, Bradley/Prielipp has been better than average, Ober has been himself, Ryan/Matthews has been way worse. Current Bullpen Gomez - 2.16 July ERA Morris - 0.75 July ERA Rogers - 1.17 July ERA Adams - 1.80 July ERA Funderburk - 1.00 July ERA Anderson - no runs with Twins (used in 3 out of 4 high leverage appearances) Rojas is electric Nance is serviceable in mop up duty. Thats a pretty solid bullpen right now. Those are too many names have an excellent month to be purely coincidence. Maybe find a couple lower level RPs as options if any ot them come back to earth.

    Extremely smart move. Prielipp probably can't handle the workload of starting the rest fo the year. He would blow way past is career high in innings and at best, have regression.
