Wonder how bad the injuries are,  ?????   will we hear the truth

Unlikely they're that bad since Julien played in Louisville tonight. If there was any worry he would have been on the forst plane to SF this afternoon.

I'd wager a penny that we see Correa and Bux tomorrow.

And if not, maybe Jeffers can play 3rd to switch things up a bit.

Why were their middle infielders plying so far back

I felt like they were playing back kind of far. Maybe it was just me

Snell has been awful this year but is still capable of pitching a good game. Hopefully the Twins are healthy tomorrow and grab another series win heading into the ASB.

Also, where's peter? Two run win. He should be thrilled.

Maybe they could do that thing NL managers used to do when they were stuck using a pitcher as a position players. Alternate Lee and Jeffers between 2nd and 3rd depending on whether a lefty or a righty is at the plate.

When the Twins were en route to SF, the most banged up player was probably Jeffers. There seemed to be enough depth that adding Camargo would allow DHing of Jeffers/Vázquez plus allow running for Jeffers or hitting for Vázquez. But the baseball gods seem to have a sense of irony (or humor) so we have scratches of Miranda and Correa in consecutive days with Buxton also being out today.

If any of the three can’t play tomorrow, it would make sense to place any of them  on the IL with five days off after Sunday.

But there's no need to make that decision until Saturday.l

Why the hell are we running Castro there?

I'm kinda thinking "we" didn't send him there.  That looked like a solo effort- but holy moley, this Giants catcher is the best guy I've never heard of before.  He had an awesome day.

Twins have the 6th best record in the majors.

Even better if you leave out the 7-13 cold mess start.

Have a feeling he's dinged from the wall crash last night.  Hopefully available to PH

Sorry if this was mentioned already, but on the 2nd play that Buxton tried to make last night (not the one where he hit the wall, the one where he just came up short after running a long way) he pulled up and looked gimpy like he felt that knee tweak.  I was sure he was not going to finish the game, but he did.....

No RBI on a GIDP

What, never?

We saw* one a week or so ago, didn't we?

The one with runners at the corners, Got the force at second, throw home, but Lee scored as catcher dropped the ball, then throw to first caught Vazquez too far off for the double play. Pretty sure they awarded an RBI on that GIDP.

*saw--- well, i read about it afterwards...and i suppose i can't speak for others, so maybe we should have an asterisk as well

Er... PS:

No. A hitter isn't awarded an RBI on a GIDP. Ever.

The play you're describing wasn't a GIDP, which requires two forceouts.

That ball in play was scored a fielder's choice.

I am still looking for the actual GIFP definition, as i presume it is looser than 2 force outs.

I looked through the 2023 rules pdf on the mlb website and didn't find a definition of GIDP. Forced double plays and reverse forced double plays it distinguishes between, but no GIDP.

It does however define a double play, and it does define a ground ball, both of which seem to apply to the Vazquez play in question.

In the box score, Vazquez was not credited with a GIDP, which seems fine because he coulda stayed at first and avoided said double play with Lee safe at home.

The stricture that RBIs are not credited on a GIDP is prescriptive scoring rule, and at least partially justified by the assumption they could have gotten the runner at home if they wanted to. Said assumption is not necessarily always true.

As an aside there is the practice of getting caught off base to allow a runner on 3rd to score. Doesn't that merit some recognition?

Now i want to see someone hitting into a triple play deserve an RBI out of spite (who cares what they are credited with...)
