Carrying three catchers for the 1 % chance that you will need a third catcher is roster mismanagement.  And now it has blown up in their face having to play Vasquez at third.  Julien needed to be up here even if it was only for the weekend.  There is no reason to carry 3 catchers with the short benches of today unless one is banged up.

Alcala is not a two inning pitcher, something about sitting down and going back out there.  He has not done well in the second inning he pitches, he needs to be a one inning pitcher even with the low pitch count.
