I would say package him with larnach or celestino for prospects, possibly even waiting to see if he has a good training camp in the spring to up his value

He will probably end up in the same category as Kyle Garlick and Jake Cave; good enough to be a temp. replacement but spend most of his days in AAA, or maybe join Astudillo in Japan.

Valencia played 7-8 years with career .740 or so OPS.

He played for parts of 8 years and his career earnings are estimated at over $13 million. That wouldn’t be too bad.

It’s going to be a really interesting winter/spring to see how those three infield spots play out. You have Lewis, Correa, Polanco, Julien, Miranda (I’m still high on him, bad timing for him to have  a bum shoulder) and Lee.  Also, you still have  Farmer,  Castro and Salano in play. And possibly Martin, although I think he’s now an outfielder.

Who is going to trade their prospects for the Twins' former prospects?

If the FO believes he was dogged by injuries this year, I'd guess he's back for 2024 in a prove-it way. As the last few years have shown, anybody on the 40 will get some MLB at bats. Make the most of it. 1B is a revolving door unless Kiriloff manages to stay healthy.

If they think 2023 wasn't about health, I think Miranda is traded as a reclamation project, similar to Lopez with FL, maybe getting a low ball prospect in return.

I'm high on Miranda and personally really want to see him come back strong, but there is a bit of a logjam looming and we all know this front office's strategy for acquiring starting pitching. If the front office believes he will bounce back, a sell-high candidate will be traded, not him. If the front office believes he will not bounce back, I predict he gets traded for something frustrating like a relief prospect coming off Tommy John surgery who can hit high-nineties velocity but has insurmountable command issues.

If he bashes the ball at AAA the way he did in 2021, they will either find room on the roster or get a nice return.  We need to solve the deficiency against LHP.  Perhaps he could eventually contribute to that cause.  I would like to see them find a team that has too many OF prospects that are near ready and trade our similar IF prospects.  I know this does not happen often but why not.  There has to be a couple teams deep in OFers that could use an INFer or two.  Maybe Washington?  Hurley or Vukovich from Arizona?

He is a great depth piece if he shows up next spring like everyone thought he would this spring. Its one lost year and he could be back better than ever. As far as next year’s infield goes, he could be called up when the first key injury occurs.

Still young enough that the Twins can afford to 40-man him and play him at St. Paul next year, at first abse and third base.

What disappointed me msot about this seson was that he was working out with Correa in the off-season, which was supposed to be a good thng. But both players ended up just...bad.

The Twins still have a question about who is on first. Looks like they will be bringing back Polanco for 2024, which means Julian moves to first/DH. Kirilloff may get a couplke of weeks of games to see if he is consistent with his earlier numbers this season. But will he be the first baseman of the future, or a guy who rotates between 1B/OF/DH.

Besides Miranda, who wasn't expected to stay at third anyways with Lewis and Lee and Martin and Correa and whomever else fighting for infield jobs in 2025 and beyond, the Twins other choice is Sabato, who is still a year at AAA away from even being considered roster fodder, and possibly even two years if he can avoid the Rule 5 this year.

I picture the Twins adding Chris WIlliams to the roster, also a first base (and catcher and elsewhere consideration) in place of Solano for next season. But we will see.

There is the chance the Twins might just cut Miranda. He will be on the bubble as someone to remove from the roster if they sign a free-agent. I expect the Twins will offer him a decent contract which might make it less enticing for someone to grab him if he is removed from the 40-man.

Opps, almost forgot that there is someone named Yennier Severino that might need to be a Twin.

Has to stay in AAA another year to increase his value to either come up to the Twins or to be a throw-in for Bullpen help at the deadline.

Or he could end up like Larnach , if with the Twins, a regular in St. Paul, and not much more.

It’s strange sometimes how guys just crash and burn. They both have a lot to prove and improve on in 2024.
