Miles Straw owning Sonny Gray is one of the more random things I have ever seen. Classic baseball oddity

Now 5/10 against him and his 1st AB was a deep 3-2 battle ending in Kepler robbing him.

DP immediately wipes that out.

Jordan Luplow pinch hitting for Gallo cannot be a good indictment on his staying power on this team.

It doesnt even make sense with it being a spot where you dont need a productive out. So 3 run homer or walk or fine.

And Luplow vs righties is terrible. And hes a much less productive hitter than Gallo. Mind boggling

I guess that is perspective. Gallo is hardly a productive hitter...especially over the past several weeks. He is the poster child of 'unproductive'. Gallo has 20, mostly irrelevant HRs and an aircraft carrier full of k's, killing rally after rally. To be fair I guess, neither should be on the team once Buck and AK return.

Oh dont get me wrong im not defending Gallo at all lol

But thats a situation where you need a hit or a walk. So unless you are bringing in a good bat to ball singles guy(Solano) theres no point using Luplow over Gallo there. If Joey does anything he walks to load them with 1 out or hits a homer.

Luplow is awful vs righties. They said hes 3/22 this year. And at tleast one of those was a position player maybe two of them.

I don't object to this move, but it's weird!

Gladden's brilliant statement at the moment Lupow pinch hit for Gallo:

"That's one of the toughest decisions a manager has to make."

Irony: Sending up a guy who is 0-last 13, pinch hitting for a guy who is 0-last 17.

Aw, Danny,,,

While I love Royce's aggressiveness, at some point he is going to have to get a little more selective with pitches.   Having more career HR than walks probably isn't sustainable.  His K numbers aren't bad, but a lot of his outs come from pretty weak contact on pitches he probably has no business swinging at.

Whe Kirilloff comes back I wonder how the split at first will be, Solano's batting average is going up , but, fielding at first ; Solano is a better fielder than Kirilloff but at that, he is having a horrible year fielding compared to last year at first base.

Agreed.  He's good enough and smart enough that he'll learn, but there will likely be some growing pains in that process.

The curse of youth!

Sonny's late inning struggles are a bit perplexing.

Its usually not a product of guys seeing him a 3rd time and rocking him. Or even high pitch counts.

He just randomly loses control in the 6th or 7th with low pitch counts. Kinda bizarre.

Solano at 1st this year has been an adventure to say the least
