glunn Community Moderator Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 This ump seems generous in calling strikes, but at least it seems like he's done it for both sides.

Unfortunately, everyone in MN in so soft that nothing like this could ever happen. We just sit back and watch $33M be mediocre until his contract is completed, then complain about it, then wonder why our franchise was broken for the last 6 years. I'm pretty sure booing never made anyone play better or forced management's hand to deal a struggling player. Should Twins fan's boycott games or take up arms against the proletariat?
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 So the Dbacks pitch around the rookie to get to Carlos Correa. This makes sense, which is the problem. USAFChief, mrtwinsfan and Dman 3

Yeah, Correa having a lousy season and I wouldn't even call his offensive performance mediocre at the plate and perhaps the manager should bat him lower in the order. I guess I don't like to kick a player when they're down and I want the team to win. He's been the only constant in the infield and has continued to be a fine defensive infielder. He's going to be on the roster for the next five years. I really hope this is an off year and not a premature decline. A lot has been hard to watch. glunn, TwinsAlmostWin and wabene 3

OptimisticTwinsFan Verified Member Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 I can see the approaches going backwards though on these ABs. Why are we not being aggressive at pitches in the zone and just watching them down the middle? I sometimes get watching the first pitch, but even Julien was in front there and watched a 2-1 pitch in the middle of the zone. That's the count you take a chance at unloading on and tip the cap if a pitcher throws something off speed or something that fools you and can control it that well in that moment. So many called third strikes as well and we're arguing pitches that are in the zone as balls (Wallner in the first). What are we doing? The whole electronic strike zone thing has made these hitters think taking close pitches with 2 strikes is a virtue. They will take an out and think they are right over actually making a winning play. glunn 1
