I don't disagree he could be, and I would have had him up months ago, but the Twins didn't, he didn't come up until a last resort. If the Twins think he really only his a depth type of guy, and another team thinks he could be more, trade him is all I am saying.

Agreed on Wallner. He 'could' be a masher but he's just as likely to be a left-handed hitter with a huge hole in his bat and marginal defense in the field. The prospect label could be shed really quickly. I don't think he factors into their long-term plans so the time is now.

Gallo would be addition by subtraction if they could include him any deals or just DFA him. Removing so many strikeouts per game and because of the lack of consistent contact would be beneficial to the whole batting order to move on from Gallo.

DFA is the way to go. Maybe if they acquire a bat (or two) today, they'll need to DFA Gallo to open up a roster spot?

When is Nick Gordon due back?

This is the last update I could find - as of July 5th...

Gordon is no longer wearing a boot or a cast on his fractured right tibia, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Gordon is able to walk around normally now but has not been cleared to start running, nor is he sure about a potential timetable for a return. The utility player has been sidelined since mid-May.

Thanks. I keep forgetting he's still a Twin.

He won't be for long.  In the time he should have been fighting for a spot in the utility OF, pinch runner, sparkplug guy role he was sitting at home wearing a boot watching Solano and Castro eat his lunch.  He's not that good and his window was not open long and an injury screwed him.  Bad luck, on to the next org with less utility depth.

Anyway, darn shame about just barely missing on that Verlander deal. But at least Falvine can stop working on that one now and get back to the problems in the pen.

(Yes I am being sarcastic. It shouldn't need to be said.)

I have been a big fan of Andrew Chafin for a while now. I didn't think he was available, and I am guessing the compensation was not too great. Twins should have been in.

Agreed. He hasn't been great this year but he's been stingy in the past and he'd be a clear upgrade from Moran. I'm presuming (hoping) the Twins have a few things in the works...

So I step away for 4 hours and I come to back to see that the Twins have done... nothing...

I know there's still ~90 minutes left, but this is disappointing.

The FO will probably come out and say something like "well we feel we can win with the guys we have and we have confidence blah blah blah"... well, they've said that repeatedly since they showed up, and we still haven't won a playoff series.

We'll see. Still a lot of names that were all but definitely going to be traded. Whether or not to the Twins - remains to be seen.

White Sox traded Burger to the Marlins.

Weird trade. I know Burger's stats aren't great outside of the homers but he's under team control for 5 more seasons. Seems like the kind of guy you hold onto for at least another season and see if you can sell high.

I know it's boring, but I have been on record saying I would rather the Twins do nothing unless they trade a current player like Larnach or Keplar.

We lost way to many prospects last season.  We are not a World Series team.  Maybe we can make the playoffs, win one game, and break the losing streak?  This team is not worth losing prospects.

Future MN Twin.

He seems to be whom lots of people wanted last year.

Which probably speaks more to the expectations everyone should have for this caliber of player.

I keep seeing Teoscar Hernandez's name come up and I hope that doesn't happen. Adding his league leading 143 Ks to this lineup is a frightening thought. Or his .288 OBP!

A .303 OBP against lefties isn't as impactful as people seem to think, given the atrocious numbers across the board.

Hard pass.

Twins are 2nd to last hitting vs left handed pitching in the majors.   Hernandez's slash of .303/.323/.573 vs lefties would be a welcome addition.   Good for an OPS of .896.

He (Trey Mancini) would be an upgrade from Gallo, but maybe not enough of an upgrade to even make a blip on the radar.
