Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Verlander just walked the 1st hitter, seems like every game so far the pitchers have opened up a bit shaky- Trend- Nerves ??? Jose if ever you want to be right lets hope its Tonight, Gotta be pitching up and in alot for strikes, Then use the outer plate, if they sit on his Slurve ball and its in the middle - We in Trouble, And im sure they r gonna make him throw strikes, Gotta pitch from AHEAD in the countExtra rest, adrenaline, nerves... There are plenty of reasons why pitchers are often a little shaky going into the first postseason game.

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Twinkies For Dinner was on the menu frequently back in my bachelor days! You know ... this really makes me want to go and get a Twinkie for lunch. But then ... ugh ... I've done that before, thinking nostalgically how great they were ... and been very, very, VERY disappointed. By the way ... does anyone know how the Twinkie came to be? Ask me if you want to know.

Richie the Rally Goat Community Moderator Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Perez pitched out of the bullpen in the very early season, I think maybe 1-2 times. He performed poorly in that role, though it was admittedly a very small sample size. 31 innings over 3 seasons is nothing, but.... 3 relief appearances 8.1 innings in 2019. 7.56 ERA, 5.01 XFIP. 20% walk rate did him in to 26% k rate. Over his career as a reliever he’ just kinda bad. 31 innings 4.6 ERA 4.6 XFIP. 19.4% k rate 13.2% bb rate.
Don Walcott Verified Member Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 As much as I like Arraez, I'd rather Schoop got this start, because of his experience, its against the lefty, he's a better defender, and it would give Arraez another day of recovery.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 It's 1:56PM Central Time. This day is moving along like ketchup out of a 1970's ketchup bottle with Carly Simon singing "Anticipation" in the background. I've checked my watch so many times... my wrist has atrophied into that position permanently. Now, my wife is going to have to cut my steak for me... for the rest of my life. It's OK... I have no shame anymore. All that matters right now is this game and I'm ready to watch it now with my cock-eyed wrist but 6:07 doesn't seem to want to get here!!!
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Arraez over Schoop. Didn’t see that coming.

Proofreading music. Something that takes focused effort. Between what's coming in a few hours and the extra shot I had in my latte, I'll just be lucky I don't have an ulcer by the time I go to bed tonight. And then there .... SQUIRREL!
scottz Verified Member Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Arraez over Schoop.Didn’t see that coming.Arraez over Schoop vs lefty.I also didn't see that coming.I'm trusting they have some data that pushed them that way. I'd be curious to hear all the discussions that went into it!
SwainZag Community Moderator Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Arraez over Schoop.Didn’t see that coming. Rocco possibly oversee a shorter outing for Paxton? Thought process it might be only 1 AB for Arraez hitting against him in the 9 hole and saving Schoop for a pinch hitting situation later in the game?

bunsen82 Verified Member Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 I think what the Arreaz decision is telling you is they think he is fully healthy. The other is as much as Schoop has split number advantages, if we absolutely need a hit, I would much rather have Arreaz up there than Schoop no matter what the numbers say. I also am more comfortable knowing he is more likely to have good at bats and take more pitches. Its a give and take but I am absolutely fine having Arreaz out there. Hopefully we knock Paxton out by the 4th inning either way.
bunsen82 Verified Member Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Speaking of OBP- Arreaz has .398 OBP against Lefties, Schoop has OBP of .354. You increase the chance of a home run with Schoop, but you are more likely to have a baserunner on for a home run with Arreaz or to extend an inning.
joefish Verified Member Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Kepler needs to get hot in a hurry. No one needs to see him playing gimpy. Solid contact. Bat on ball. Good swings.

diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Yeah, that's a lot of rusty bats they put on the roster. I hope they've seen some legit live pitching. I'm guessing Perez went with the team and was asked to throw his usual batting practice... they should be all warmed up.
