Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 That’s the worst inning of baserunning I’ve ever seen and the pitching performance isn’t far behind

DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 Hiya gang! Weird game but the good guys are winning!
wavedog Verified Member Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 Wow, 3 outs on the basepaths that inning saved us.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 That was a garbage inning for Smeltzer, but an even more garbage inning for the Texas baserunners. Dear goodness, they made all three of their outs between 3rd and home!
bighat Verified Member Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 He was playing 2B. Arm's fine there. He was playing shortstop. Range was criticized, he certainly doesn't lack that skill.
twins1095 Verified Member Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 I don't feel comfortable about this game.
DiscGolfer Verified Member Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 This inning and game would be a whole lot different without all the Texas base running errors, unbelievable.
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 Rangers at least tie a major league record - 3 outs in one inning going from third to home.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 And that should quell the notion that Devin Smeltzer is going to hold down a rotation spot in the near future.
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 Interesting way to get three outs. Have the Rangers been taking base running lessons from the Twins?
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 I know a lot won't agree with me, but I was happy with Pineda tonight. He rocked it off the IL for 4 IP and then ran out of gas/lost his mojo sitting on the bench for a long inning. He took one for the team to finish the 5th and get the W and help save the pen a tiny bit.
wavedog Verified Member Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 Actually lucky because 2 of those shots hit the top of the fence. Someone pitcher please get some outs

DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 Sorry for multiple posts. Phone just went NUTS!
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 Call it lipstick on a pig, but despite ridiculous baserunning from the Rangers, small tip of the cap to our Twins for still being heads up and making the right plays.

At least you know what you're going to get.
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 He was playing shortstop. Range was criticized, he certainly doesn't lack that skill.'Twas a joke. The shift was on, by the time he came up with the ball it was a short throw.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 Sorry for multiple posts. Phone just went NUTS!I think it was an issue with TD. I had it cut out too.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 Definitely a problem with TD. I couldn't get on the site this afternoon and now it takes a looong time for a post to be completed.
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 Sorry for multiple posts. Phone just went NUTS!Nah, there's something crazy with the site. I hope Brock can look into it. Was down for a while, and there are severe delays that come and go. / also takes a while for some of us to see posts by others of us.
jz7233 Provisional Member Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 And that should quell the notion that Devin Smeltzer is going to hold down a rotation spot in the near future. All of sudden Smeltzer is incapable of pitching meaningless innings. I am not interested in seeing Smeltzer any time soon. It's Thorpe's turn.
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 Did I just see Rosario yank the ball away from a kid he was about to hand it to? That's So Mean...!
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 JMO, but I really like this Smeltzer kid a ton. Seemed "un-ready" for the 6th but settled down and looked better by the end. Good 7th! Dont know his future role, or how good he could end up being, but the kid doesnt get rattled and just seems to know how to pitch.
bighat Verified Member Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 'Twas a joke. The shift was on, by the time he came up with the ball it was a short throw. Right, but throwing doesn't have anything to do with range. If the original poster had said "Polanco has the arm of a caged chicken", then we'd all be on the same page. Come to think of it, chickens don't have arms...what were we talking about, anyway? Anyway, water under the bridge man.
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 My memory may just be bad about this, but I'm confused about the Ranger's new stadium. I was thinking their current park wasn't that old.

DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 IDK, this Arraez kid might be a hitter.
