This is just such a bummer to watch, we have all of this offensive power and we literally did nothing to bolster or SP and RP. If we make it to the post season, it's just going to look like 2010.

It might be time to try Perez in the bullpen to see if he'll be a realistic option there in the playoffs. I'd be fine with giving Smeltzer some more starts in the big leagues.

Did anyone else come across the USA Today article about the "juiced ball" theory and research being done at Washington State?

 

It almost reads like a Randball Stu conspiracy article but has quotes from Verlander in it. Apparently, the results of testing are being held secret until testing is complete, but their appears to be less drag on the current balls, but that is all that is revealed at this point. Manfred insists there has been no deliberate change and Verlander has a rather vocal counter opinion.

 

It's definitely interesting. Maybe worthy of a post/discussion thread?
