LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Translation of Poppen's facial expression as he left the field after getting the 3rd out: "Hey, that wasn't so bad! Also, I can't feel my face."
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 I didn't know Poppen touched 97 like that... this dude might just have a future in the majors. His stuff looked good!
jz7233 Provisional Member Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 He at least hustlesHe needs to make contact first.
operation mindcrime Verified Member Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Wow-- this kid has some SERIOUS movement. That fastball at 97, and screaming inside to righties... But- I still gotta go with the earlier posters, and call him Mr. Fresh. You can call him Mary!!!
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Poppen graduated with honors from Harvard, double majoring in Chemistry and Physics, and Engineering Sciences. Smart dude, also.I'm no Harvard honors grad, but that seems like three majors.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 I didn't know Poppen touched 97 like that... It's for real. 96 came forward and confirmed that it had been touched by Poppen like that as well...

ashbury Verified Member Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Somebody get that man a qualude. And one for me, if you please. No lude remarks, please.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 He definitely seems as hittable as May was, just not as wild.oh I don’t know... maybe, maybe not. The 83 pots of coffee didn’t help. He showed a good hard slider, and a fastball that seems to tail back on righties. But we can go 15 rounds on another thread sometime.

Soft Tosser Provisional Member Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Harvard pitcher pitching to a Stanford catcher, wonder where Astudillo went to college.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 I'm no Harvard honors grad, but that seems like three majors. I'm waiting for your joke about the time they walked into an O club...
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 It's for real. 96 came forward and confirmed that it had been touched by Poppen like that as well... Spit take worthy
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 So instead of stopping off at my usual little beer joint on the way home from work today, I thought I'd stop by the public pool and take a swim. It's June in Tucson...100 plus every day, and humidities in the single digits. So anyway, I got there, and I really had to ... pee. Can I say that here? I think so. I had to pee, so I went to the deep end, and just sort of casually let it go. Well, the stupid life guard blew his whistle at me. Loud! So loud, it scared me so bad I nearly fell in.
PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 That was a good play all around. Good on Astudillo not to get caught up in the run down.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Sean Poppen. Great pitcher, or greatest of all time?
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Poppin found his command the moment he pitched from the stretch.

Mill1634 Verified Member Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Poppen back down after this game for another arm, or no?
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 What pool was this.....uh, "the public pool." Reading is important for lawyers, no?
