And you don't keep your manager in the loop over negotiations. You let him know when the deal is done.

Says who? What do you base that statement on?

I would hope that there would be SOME communication. Not saying he’s got to be a part of negotiations, but he should be kept in the loop!

I thought Pressley should of pitched the 9th, Being FRE being used up lately, then seeing Beslisle ---w.t.f. is molly doing?????

Rodney and Belisle.  Yup our bullpen is locked down.

Honestly, I didn't mind Rodney. With Rodney, there's a chance. But Belisle against the Sox? No.

I'm beginning to wonder if keeping Belisle and using him in high leverage situations is sneaky way to tank for better draft position.

Managers supposedly don't have that much influence on a game, but, putting in Belisle in that situation? Really?

Kelly used to deliberately misuse players he didn't want on the roster to hasten their departure. It's probably too much to hope for that Molitor is doing the same.

In any case, there's a strong chance of accountability in the forecast with the front office simultaneously signalling that they're thinking future with the Escobar trade, yet keeping Belisle who barely has a present, let alone a future with the organization.

Magill has pitched once since 10 July (on the 27th).

I guess since he gave up at least one run in the six appearances prior to that he's lost Molitor's confidence.

But, Belisle?

The manager isn't going to be notified until the deal is done and signed. The media leapfrogs those steps all the time and announces trades that are close to final but have yet to be finalized properly.

How do you think the media scoops all these stories without knowing what is coming back in return? They get enough info to be confident that something is going down but don't have the specifics because it hasn't actually happened yet.

I would bet a lot of money a Molitor knew they had a deal, or were close, before the media did.

And playing a game in Boston, down a player, AND with six starters on the roster, is pretty lame, IMO.

I'm not defending their roster management at large because it's groan-worthy. All I'm rebutting is the fact they didn't have a 25th man waiting in Boston in case a trade happened.

Yep, what if the game went longer than it did (maybe Molitor out mb in for a reason!). I HIGHLY doubt if the dbacks wanted Escobar bad enough to give up 3 prospects, they couldn’t wait until after the game to make the deal. But I guess if we’re white flagging it that bad, I shouldn’t have even tuned in!

At least Magill had confidence to lose. Belisle, not sure he ever had any.

This was a winnable game, though. I can't see Kelly putting in a player that's almost guaranteed to lose a game.

This game was lost partly because Molitor inexplicably uses Rodney in a 6-run game on Wednesday.  Then after last night's tightrope act, it puts him at 40+ pitches over two straight days.  You can't bring a 41-year-old with his track record back out there for a 3rd straight day and 4th in 5 days.  He's no Mo Rivera.  I'm not big on analytics and I'm no fan of Pressly but common sense says you can't go with the caveman thinking of 'ugh, up by 1 in last inning...must use closer no matter what'.  It's almost like when Gardy decided to throw Nathan one more inning in the playoffs because the Twins took the lead in the top half of the 11th (or whatever inning it was).

It was also partly lost because those dopes in the GM office thought it was good idea to sign Matt Belisle.

On a positive note the new influx of minor leaguers pays off immediately

Clean sweep by all levels (Miracle were postponed)

Look for details in the minor league recap

Yes I know the new guys aren't there yet

These are the types of losses that forces the FO to sell... Maybe they can sell Molitor

Maybe offer Molitor for $2.99 with a $500,000 rebate?

They should have at least been down to five starters with another reliever on the roster BEFORE this series started, and I’m not willing to just accept that their deal with AZ all materialized this afternoon.

Maybe they don’t care about winning, but I still do.

Especially with the recent “Hot” streak. 7 games out coming in to today with 2 months to play and numerous games against Cleveland in hand. A bench of Mauer and Wilson is pitiful against the best team in the league
