Jake Odorizzi is one of 22 American League pitchers who’ve racked up 100 or more strikeouts this season, joining fellow Twins Jose Berrios and Kyle Gibson to have accomplished that feat. Odorizzi is 15th among qualified AL starters with a 9.5 K/9. Tampa Bay dealt Odorizzi to the Twins after he spent five seasons with them, so he’s no doubt going to be out to prove that was a mistake.

 

Eovaldi missed all of 2017, but appears to be putting everything together in his age 28 season. OK, maybe it’s a bit premature to say that, as he’s only made eight starts, but man has he looked good. The right-hander has given up just two runs over his last three starts (0.95 ERA) and in that 19-inning stretch has 23 strikeouts against just three walks.

 

Brian Dozier is hitting .455/.538/.727 in 13 plate appearances against Eovaldi and Max Kepler has two homers against him despite facing Eovaldi just five times.

 

Here’s hoping for some good luck all across Twins Territory on this Friday the 13th.

I'm going out a limb here and make a prediction:* The Twins get to .500 about the time the trade deadline hits. Because the team did so badly before the trade deadline, the value of various players has taken a hit,, to the point the FO doesn't really do much at the deadline.

 

Twins wind up winning the division.

*If you're a betting person, bet against me, because my track record of predictions is spotty, at best. :)

Is our old offense back? Snell and Eovaldi haven't been slouches this year.

One could make the rain delay argument for Snell, but I guess Gibby said otherwise

Great stuff so far, I just wish this offense would have showed up at least a month ago. Before the point where we'd need to win 65% of our games to make the playoffs.

My MLB.tv is playing catch-up so i'm a few minutes behind, but it sure seems like Dozier has hit more fly balls to the warning track this year than anyone I have ever seen. (Granted, I haven't watched that much, but it seems like every time I do he hits one to the track.)

Tuned in with Rosario batting. In February this is what I pictured this team would be like. Except I also pictured a healthy and productive Buxton and a healthy and productive Sano. In other words, an offense leading the majors in runs scored by a significant margin.

Can't compound one mistake by making another Eddie...

He's my favorite player, but his biggest flaw is that he tries to make the great but nearly impossible play instead of doing the best thing.

Polanco was greatly missed that first half. He is a real spark plug in this offense.

Eddie Rosario makes me swear a lot. More often than not it's in a good way ... but not always.

 

Drink would also be an acceptable replacement for swear in this comment.
