The order o' tonight's service will be as follows...

Would the congregation please rise for the singing hymn #25 "Nothing but Raindrops"

The first sermon will be given on "the 3rd strike."

There will be a moment of silence as the pitcher gets the sign.

Rise for hymn #99 "Third base coach is waving you on"

The second sermon is "hitting the cutoff"

A collection plate will be passed about for those stranded in scoring position.

And finally please rise for our national anthem.

The bullpen will be called in to give the benediction.

Can i have an Amen?

Er, and feel free to incorporate yer own variations as appropriate. I usually sleep too late to make it to services myself. I guess i'm limited by my own experience and even that i'm only badly parodyin'. I should get out more widely to experience this freedom of religion thing...

Here's a nagging issue for me. When RG is your cleanup hitter, and Andrianza is in the 5 hole, can you look in the mirror and call yourself a contender? ,I know injuries, suspensions, and bad luck haven't helped. But sheesh! I now return to My GT Happy Place. :)

Another strikeout for Buxton at Rochester this evening.

SIgh.

They want him to completely change his approach/swing, and I agree. I would guess he's going back to a leg kick, but just a guess. Also he might be instructed to take more pitches. Hopefully someone with eyes on will give a report in the milb thread or somewhere.

So, Mrs. Blake and I got back to town this morning, where this afternoon it's a balmy 105 degrees.

Did I mention we were in Laughlin, NV., where the high yesterday was 119?

105 doesn't really looks so bad right about now.

That's a brutal lineup. The Twins batting order only has 1 hitter with an OPS over .730 with 5 guys under .700. It doesn't matter how much better the pitching is this year when the lineup is this bad.

I keep waiting for this lineup to get it together. Maybe they'll get it together after a couple of major players are traded at the deadline.

It's a chicken salad sandwich lineup, for sure. But the game is not played on paper (plates).

It's a chicken-something lineup, that's for sure....

Just one glance at that gives me a visual of a white flag being waved from the dugout before the shootin' even starts.

Maybe the 72 Yankees?

Very Good! Opening day lineup...they scored one run and lost...

Jerry Kenny

Rich Mc Kinney

Bobby Mercer

Roy White

Ron Bloomberg

Johnny Callison

Thurman Munson (rookie)

Bernie Allen

Mel Stottlemyre (no DH)

What a dumb decision by Dozier.

This team gets more outs on the basepaths!

I believe I read that they've had the second most outs on the bases with the Nationals being 1st? The Twins have enough difficulties just getting guys on base, so it's a waste to consistently get unnecessary outs on the base paths.

Thing is, how can the Twins do better at this point? Insert Morrison and his .190 average into the lineup?

Ugh.

Heck of a play by Motter.

I imagine Gorg will credit that to him playing almost 1/3 of his MLB games in the OF as opposed to the infield.

Edit: 1/5 of his games have been in the OF.
