slash129 Verified Member Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Belisle should just make a b-line to the manager's office. Stick a fork in him.
ashbury Verified Member Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 I figured out the reason Taylor Motter was available to the Twins on the waiver wire back in May: the Mariners belatedly realized they already had one. http://ldywgilfmw17e67w3vjk9exe.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/taylor-motter-ben-gamel-620.jpg (Ben Gamel on the right.)
jkcarew Verified Member Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 14 additional wins would be needed to be .500 at the ASB. Given the upcoming schedule, I think its doable to win 10 to 14 more. I don't think its out of the question that they will be within a stones throw of .500 by July 15th.At some point "a stones throw of 500" means SELL. I hope.
Cap'n Piranha Verified Member Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Another good start by Gibson wasted...... 7 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings doesn't quite qualify as good for me. Decent, to be sure, but not good.
Puckett34 Verified Member Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Upcoming opponents and current records: Texas (32-44)@ Chicago White Sox (24-49)@ Chicago Cubs (42-29)@ Milwaukee (43-30)Baltimore (21-51)Kansas City (22-52)Tampa Bay (34-40) That homestand right before the ASG gives the Twins a total of 11 home games against some very beatable opponents. If the Twins can win 8 of those games, they might be pretty close to .500 by the ASG. The looming Chicago/Milwaukee road trip could be a rough patch. Here's hoping they make hay against Texas this weekend.Thats what I'm saying. Make hay vs Texas, Baltimore, Kansas City, and Tampa. Then hope to get at least 2 against the Brewers and Cubs. I have way to much optimism for how the first 70 games have gone.
mrmpls Verified Member Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Seven - zip, eh? Belisle in there getting hammered? What the heck is he doing on this team? Any other reason he's here besides coming in to mop up bad losses?Amen, why is he even here? 3-4 guys in rochester that are doing good ,
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Might as well let the scrubs play. Oh wait, they already are.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Also, the Belisle signing looks like a gigantic error right now. It's all good, because something something veteran leadership.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 At 53 I'm not, although I do have a pathetic attempt at one going on right now.I'm jealous of everyone that can grow facial hair...
jun Verified Member Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Might as well let Belisle walk. Please release Belisle.
jun Verified Member Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Pressly needs to pitch in low leverage situation as well. Pressly might even be worse than Reed right now.

Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 I'm jealous of everyone that can grow facial hair...In about 2006 my wife said I might look good with sideburns like Joe Mauer had then and that I should try to let mine grow. I told her that it was just as likely for me to increase my height by 10" so I could be as tall as him too.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Might as well let Belisle walk. Please release Belisle. He's not pitching well? I'm shocked... SHOCKED I tell ya!

It also doesn't help when my facial hair is blonde.

jun Verified Member Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Please release Wilson and Belisle. It's a waste of time to watch them play. They don't belong in major league.

mrmpls Verified Member Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Not that it matters but mcgill got squeezed on that pitch b4 double
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Please release Wilson and Belisle. It's a waste of time to watch them play. They don't belong in major league.Belisle we can probably easily replace. Wilson, probably not.
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Through 4 games, batters are hitting .438 off Belisle. He's arguably failed both of his tests as a mop-up man too, only getting 3 outs with a 6 run lead vs Cleveland, and only 3 again today trailing by 5.

LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 The Twins managed to keep the Red Sox' nine year old third baseman from getting a hit, so that's something...
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 11 players in the Twins line up today—8 have BAs under .250, 7 are under .230, 5 are under .220.
jud6312 Verified Member Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Motter has played a whopping 10 games at 3b in the majors in 3 years, Which makes the GIF even more fitting.
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Caution--pet peeve rant coming.Bradley's jersey is wrong. His last name is Bradley. Junior is not part of his last name. It is part of his given name. Junior does not belong on his jersey. This also applies to the myriad of other Juniors and Thirds out there who erroneously have those designations on their jerseys. That is all.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Belisle we can probably easily replace. Wilson, probably not. Totally agree, and yet it's reaching the point where it might be nice to see them try to replace Wilson anyway. There's at least a small chance that a replacement would be better, and as a bonus, maybe a good chance that a replacement would be no better, but not likable enough that the front office would consider bringing them back next year.
