I'm beginning to think we don't need to replace a couple of guys in the bullpen, but rather an entire bullpen transfusion.  Swap the Twins bullpen for the Red Wings, and lets see what happens.

Trade Wiggins for Buxton.

The singular way to speed up the game is to use fewer relief pitchers per game. This, however, cannot be regulated. Pandora's box has been opened, and so the length (and general tedium) of games will go on.

Not sure why we have to be so worried about how long the games take. I'd rather be watching a baseball game instead of the other junk on tv.

Well they've got time now since they didn't make the playoffs for the first time in 27years.

I'm watching, so it hasn't driven me away either. It's just that (to me) the epic rise in use of relief pitching is annoying. I wish there was some way to deal with it, but I can't think of any way.

This game has sure spiraled downward.   Anyone have hope for a comeback?

Never give up and never leave a game until the last out!

Is there any way the Manager will move Mauer down to say 6th or 7th in the order?

Because right now all Mauer is really at the plate is a 7th to 8th in the order type of hitter. Would be nice if Joe would bat further down. Sano's starting to get really impatient at the plate and starting to chase bad pitches. I suspect some of Sano's struggles are that he has nobody around him other than Keplar right now that is swinging a good bat. Castro is what we all thought he was an 8 to 9 hitter, at best. During this losing streak a lot of the same ugly stuff that reared it's head besides starting pitching is starting to creap up. This team cannot hit a lick right now.

Right now Mauer is a shouldn't be on the roster type hitter. Just bat him 9th. That .236 slugging % won't be exposed in that spot.

Ugh, I hate how all of the young and promising relievers had to lay an egg in this one. Pressly had been looking real good but he's fallen apart in the last three outings. I guess they could try swapping his role with Tonkin's, but outside of him there really isn't any options. It was only a matter of time until this bullpen fell apart (I did talk about this before the season started) and it appears we are reaching critical mass.

Hello Old Friend Last Place!   Of course we are just a game out of first so not all bad.   We have trended down this season - sweeping the first series, winning the next series, losing the next 2 series and now getting swept in this one.   Maybe we can start the cycle over by sweeping Detroit.

One positive from today is that JT Chargois made his season debut in Rochester.  1 2/3 IP, 1 BB, 2 K.  26 pitches, 17 strikes.  Inherited 2 runners, stranded both.  If he continues to pitch well, he's probably up before the end of the month.

I'd like to see him and Hilldenberger very soon.

I think they'll give Hildenberger until the end of May. This is his first season above AA.  He's got less than overpowering stuff, but a quirky delivery.  So far, it has played in AAA.  It might at the MLB level.  Pat Neshek still has a job, after all.

doesn't look all that appetizing to me...

You're right, it tastes like ****. Unfortunately that is the only meal the are serving in the cafeteria of our baseball prison. :(

That's fine except that the Twins also have a .240 and .122 SLG they have to hide.  Is it any wonder Dozier is struggling lately?  Hitting ahead of Mauer, behind Rosario and Buxton.

Twins offense is equally as bad as last April and actually is worse because they don't have Trevor Plouffe in the lineup (no big loss) but nobody who has shown signs of replacing his production.  Buxton is an embarrassment to ML baseball and Rosario has the same number of XBH as Joe Mauer.  ONE!  Sano is the same player we have come to know.  He can hit a baseball a country mile, but he strikes out continually chasing that low outside curveball.

None of the Twins present roster will be around when this team finally become relevant again.  It could be another decade for this organization.

Agree to disagree.

Not only did Erv allow yet another run today, but 4(!) hits as well.

I'm off the bandwagon.
