Good morning and welcome to the always popular, often talked about Twins Daily Game Thread!  I'm feeling the pressure already building as I write this introduction. Unfortunately, yesterday's game was rained out. There is now a real pent up demand to watch Twins baseball and actively participate in the Game Thread today.  Even though this game will be played over the noon hour and during most peoples regular work schedules, I'm confident the fans will be out in droves today.

Yesterday's rainout got me thinking about days off and playing hooky.  In a way, the rainout yesterday may have benefitted our ball club as they have struggled the last few games.  I think the guys just needed a day off to clear their heads and relax a little.

Popular wisdom now says that taking a day off occasionally or "playing hooky" from work or school can actually help our productivity and strengthen our mental health.  In the spirit of that thought, I am recommending to everyone reading this to take the day off!  Play hooky!  Find the game on TV, listen to it on the radio and post along on the Game Thread with your other Twins fan brethren.

In case you have never played hooky before let me give you some good advice:

1.  If your already at work, fein diarrhea.  No body wants to discuss that and it should get you out the door and into a bar watching the Twins.  Make sure wherever you decide go after leaving work its far enough away so you don't run into anyone from the office.

2. If you're at home and want to call in, use the same excuse as #1 above.  Again, is your boss really going to quiz you on this?  I highly doubt it.  Besides, its a much better excuse than saying my garage door doesn't open, I broke the key in my door, my aunt died, etc.

3.  Stay off social media.  That means no tweets, FaceBook, etc.  It's probably ok to post on the Game Thread though.

4.  Remember what Ferris Bueller said about playing hooky:  "The question isn't what are we going to do.  The question is what aren't we going to do."  Think in those terms and your self induced day off could manage to be a lot of fun!

Oh yeah, almost forgot a great reason to watch or listen to the game today.  One of the hottest pitchers in MLB right now is starting today.  He even plays for the Twins!  Go Ervin!

Agreed.  I'd have thought they would have done that by now but....

Great Intro, and coincidently (or not but unmentioned) today's date 4/20 is widely known as Sr. Skip day for most High Schoolers.

Who is Senor Skip?  Didn't he run for governor awhile back?

Lets not pull a 'Buxton' on Polanco and put too much pressure on him, down in the bottom of the order works, leave him there for a month or two.

Is there any evidence he needs that? Why assume he can't handle it? LOTS of teams put young players in positions of importance, and it works. We'll just disagree on this.

I don't know about this, Polanco has always hit well at the major league level. He should be in Mauer's spot until he proves he can't hit there.

Except Polanco actually has a good approach at the plate, with approximately a 2/1 k/bb ratio for his career, compared to Buxton's 6/1.  Polanco is just a much more polished hitter right now, so I don't worry about him at all.
