Welcome to the Thanksgiving Day Game Thread!  What a great day to celebrate and be thankful for all that we have been given over that last year.  First I need to apologize to Chief.  I did not get his permission to do this game thread.  I may incur a few warning points for this lack of respect but felt compelled to do it anyway.   Sorry Chief!

I'm truly thankful that I got to enjoy a 100+ loss season with Twins fans around the world.  I didn't realize I could have fun watching my favorite team while riding such a losing streak.  You guys made it a fun year.  Imagine the fun that we'll have when the team starts winning again!

In the true spirit of Thanksgiving, here is what I am most thankful for regarding the Minnesota Twins:

  • New GM and PBO
  • New catcher.  Go Castro!  Frame that pitch baby!
  • Sano might be losing weight
  • Sabre metrics are coming to Minnesota
  • 2017 Twins might see 60+ wins
  • Buxton's got the mojo going now
  • Plouffe is gone.  Saved a few dollars...
  • New hitting coach
  • Other coaches and managers put on warning
  • Target Field is still a great place to watch a ball game
  • Spring training is still on its way...Hope springs eternal

Todays lineups (for 24 guests):

3 Turkeys: one in oven, one on grill, one deep fried

Garlic mashed potatoes

Sweet potato souffle

Brussel sprouts with bacon, honey and lemon

Cranberries

Oyster stuffing

Bread rolls

Corn dish

Stuffed artichokes

5 different kind of pie

Turkey dinner with class!  Oyster stuffing--I'm jealous. I'm in charge of stuffing, but my picky eating sister is hosting, and I didn't even dare add the sauteed mushrooms, let alone consider shellfish.

As for this business about Sabre  coming to Minnesota...I'm still on the fence.  They didn't do such a great job with Dunder Mifflin.  Let's hope Thad Levine and Derek Falvey aren't our Andy Bernard (The Thad Dog?) and Robert California (Derek Ohio?)  Terry Ryan is a good analog for Michael Scott, though.  Just not as funny.

Thanks for Giving!

What are the five kinds of pie?

No pressure...but any potential points depend on the quality of your answer.

Pumpkin of course.  Banana cream, french chocolate, french apple, coconut cream (hate it..wife won that one), pecan.

Cheers and happy Thanksgiving!

humble pie

cow pie

I had a whole post about humble pie but decided to wait on that one.  Let's enjoy the holiday then kick that one into high gear.  Cow pies we can discuss now.........2016 Twins.

Happy Thanksgiving to all. I could go for a turkey dinner tomorrow, but I already had mine a month ago.

I count six, which is better than five, ergo a quality answer by default. Hence no points, warnings,or in-thread scoldings.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

There are a few of your kind around these boards. Happy belated T-giving.

Are we talking about the pitching staff?

Doing this solo for a solo feast. 9 am and the turkey is in the oven, in a brown bag. Now what? Read TD of course. Let's see, mashed potatoes are in the refridge, dressing in a box, sweet potatoes in a can, pumpkin pie in the freezer. It's a start.  We've got a new catcher, it's a start. Better not forget anything. This should all come together sometime in the first quarter of the Vikings/Lions game. It should be a good day.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

Thankful for: Day games, the family section at Target Field, Max Kepler, the love of the game of baseball keeping me young and the chance to pass that love of the game to my children, hope for the future with the new regime.

My great-grandfather had a joke he would tell every Thanksgiving: "What's the best way to serve turkey? Join the Turkish army."

Apparently he would laugh at this joke every year. I have to wonder whether he was the only one laughing.

Best thing for Chief about being his age: no peer pressure.
