Mauer 1st, Dozier 3rd... did Molitor take the nigh off?

Sadly, no.  But it's just like all the other nights he's not taken off, and should have.  Yet another lineup that's got everybody scratching their heads, and holding the puke down in their mouths.  Every day, another one of these.  Doesn't he want to give his team a chance?

So, first time through the order should look something like...

Joe Mauer(L) 1B - Ball in Play, no out(s)
Eduardo Nunez(R ) SS - Ball in play, out(s)
Brian Dozier(R ) 2B - K
Trevor Plouffe(R ) 3B - K
Miguel Sano(R ) RF-Solo HR
Byung-ho Park(R ) DH - Solo HR
Oswaldo Arcia(L) LF - Solo HR
Kurt Suzuki(R ) C - Ball in play, out(s)
Danny Santana(S) CF - Strikeout

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I heard that Mauer was batting 1st while I was driving and I got a little exited that the team was going to start making smarter decisions, and then I looked at the overall lineup and scratched my head. So, they finally moved Mauer to #1, but have Dozie and Plouffe batting in front of Sano, Park, and Arcia- WTF?!

I am okay with Dozier being in front of those 3 I guess, but probably at the #2 hitter I would think. With this particular 9 guys and Mauer batting #1 I think something like this would seem much more logical at the moment.

1. Mauer (L)

2. Sano ®

3. Arcia (L)

4. Park ®

5. Plouffe ®

6. Dozier ®

7. Nunez ®

8. Suzuki ®

9. Sanatana (S)

..But, think it would be better to get both or either Polanco and Rosario in there too. That is a lot of right-handed bats.

Brian Dozier(R ) 2B - Ground rule double, Mauer strands at 3rd

Miguel Sano(R ) RF- HR - forgets to touch home plate
Byung-ho Park(R ) DH - Solo HR
Oswaldo Arcia(L) LF - Strike out - strained oblique
Kurt Suzuki(R ) C - Ball in play, out(s)

Park may end up a four eventually but like Sano in the three spot neither are ready for it. Once they get more plate appearances and experience, I could see Park and Sano as the fixtures in the 3 and 4 spots for quite a long time. Trading Plouffe away for some starting pitching or a much better catcher would help shake things up and make the line up overall better.

Can't tell if serious. Park is 29..... He is ready. So is Sano.

And Plouffe and Dozier have proven they're ready for it with their performance this year?

In what world does Dozier and Plouffe bat 3rd & 4th? Are they honestly trying to lose? Hey, at least we'll be picking top 3 next season.

"Twins Country Song" (5-9-16)

Ol' Paul is losing his mind

and his boys are a step out of time

Season of rejects and empty frame of sense

Ol' Paul is losing his mind

Ol' Mauer is back on the horse

The Catcher is strictly the worse.. amen

The pitching is dead. let's bury it now

This time a funerals okay

Berrios and let's have a toast

I hope his contest goes good... tonight

Consuelos should divorce, that Ripa chick stat

We just need some life in the bats

We've watch the wreck that killed a season

This group of guys sure let us down

Some whiskey and beer will temper our minds

Those Twins are dead and dead good.

Dozier approach at the plate is like a big power hitting drive em in dude so Bat him in the order like someone who approaches his plate appearances like a big power hitting drive em in dude.

Problem is, Dozier, as it turns out, is not big, doesn't have usable power, and isn't a very good hitter.

The saddest part about this, is if Berrios throws a gem, and we somehow eke out a 2-1 win, Molly will stick with this woefully misbegotten lineup.

If Berrios pitches a gem and we win, I promise not to complain about tomorrow's lineup regardless of order    :go:

I'm hoping Berrios does his job and that somehow the offense pulls it together tonight; but, if something is amiss and what I'd like to happen doesn't, I really don't want to do chores again. So can we just talk about roller coasters on the game thread?

Shouldn't you  go clean up the vomit from the roller coaster?

I have seldom watched NASCAR, but watching the Twins this year reminds me of watching a race. You tell everyone that you are watching it for the sport, and you probably really believe that. The fact it's likely your car will lose is lost on you because in reality, you are watching it for the wrecks, that's where the true excitement is. Same for the Twins. You know your team is going to lose, but the smoldering wreckage of that loss, is irresistable!

Is this one of those rain delays where it's not actually raining and not going to rain until about 9:30 but they will wait it out for a couple hours then get tired of waiting it out because it's not actually raining so they start the game at 9:30 since it's not raining...and then it rains in the third inning?

Is this one of those? :)

Mauer at the top is a good start. Now Molitor needs to open his eyes to see that Dozier isn't a top-half of the order hitter.

Yeah, how the hell does he have the brains for Mauer-to-leadoff and yet he puts Dozier third and Sano-Park-Arcia 5-7???
