I dunno about that. I'd be curious if anyone has ever made the playoffs after starting 0 and 6. I'd have to think the list is pretty slim, if not none.

I don't recall playoff talk in his post, hmmm.

Moderator note -- this was a painful loss but people need to stop screaming in the game thread.

Well if the inference isn't relax, it's still early enough to recover and make the playoffs, then I'm not sure what it is?

The goal is to make the playoffs. If you don't then there isn't really a substantial difference between you and the worst team in the league.

My apologies.

On the bright side, once the game is over and no one's in the mood for having fun anyway, a little screaming will be easier to deal with in a game thread than in a whole new thread designated to that express purpose. At least there won't be mass protestation when it's locked and archived.

That's not meant as a complaint over your warning. :)

90+ losses I regretfully predict. Weaknesses everywhere.

Good prediction, because no team has ever lost six games in a row and not also lost 90+ games in the season.  Right?

Well, Jordan Spieth is threatening to one again turn the Masters into a snooze festival, so maybe I'll be able to get outside and get something done after all.

Hope you didn't.

This was an incomprehensible loss. I'm actually stunned.

The only weird part of this loss is that Nolasco pitched well.  Offense was minimal and the bullpen coughed up the game.

yes you're right, that was based of 6 games and not our strikeout prone offense, flailing young prospects, lack of any semblance of a bullpen or any real improvement over a team that managed a better than .500 record in just two months last season.

It's just that the odds of winning go up exponentially when you get that first out of the 9th. Then in a matter of, what, 3 minutes, the lead was gone. Then the way the 10th unraveled. Just incomprehensible they didn't win.

And sadly enough he's vastly out pitched both jepsen and perkins.

Yeah, pretty sure this one is more on Perkins than May

The 1991 Twins apparently started off 2-9.

Fun Fact: The last two teams to start their seasons 0-6 actually did end up winning 90+ games

2011 Rays: 91-71

2011 Red Sox: 90-72

Is it baseball? I mean it's the Twins so I can't be sure.

The uniforms are the most damning evidence of their failed intent at the scene of the crime...

I don't know what their first 6 games were but the 2001 Oakland A's started April 8-17 and finished the year with 102 wins, I think the 2006 Twins were close to that as well

Here's an article after Boston's 0-6 start in 2011, not sure if anyone's done it since but it basically says the 74' Pirates and the 95' Reds are the only ones to do it

If it helps Boston did win 90 games that year even though they missed the playoffs and in those first 6 games they were walloped in every game, ours have at least been close except one although maybe that makes it hurt more
