twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Well, crappy ending but I'll cut them some slack for probably being at the ballpark for like 57 hours.

Handicapping yourself by not having guys available hurt as much as anything. Fien will make it more likely one of the prospects is up by early June DaveW 1

howeda7 Verified Member Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 The Twins may be rusty, but it's good to see TD in mid-season b!$%ing form. 8 straight losses on Opening Day is pretty remarkable though. Positives Park, Esco, Mauer, Sano didn't kill anyone or injure himself. Negatives: Dozier and Plouffe, Fien, Jepsen. Intramural Legend, Blake and David HK 3
Blake Verified Member Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Could have been worse. Oh wait, 1 run, 10 runs still a loss. Never mind. However, having to wait an extra day for the next game is irritating. DaveW 1
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 The Adam Jones 2-run double. Just watched the video. I think an above average RF would have a 50-50 chance to catch it, but like people said, it was crushed, it was more of a fly ball than line drive, but it was hit off the wall in right center. But check this out: it looks like Sano actual broke *in* on it. As if it was hit in front of him. Buckle up folks this is going to be ugly! DaveW 1

Duffey (pen) and Berrios (rotation) take their spots.Kepler tears up AAASome team gets a 3rd baseman hurt, Sano shows he really can't handle RF.Twins trade Plouffe for a couple prospects.Sano to 3rd, Kepler to RF. Berrios in the rotation and Duffey presents another solid option out of the pen.Ideally the Twins are at least .500 at that stage as well.

They play every day! I understand the need to add weather cushions to the opening series but there's no good reason to do it after the first game and not the second or even third. It's complete BS.

Yeah it really is dumb. I get the reasoning behind it, but that could very easily be fixed/avoided. Just have the majority of the teams open up against divisional foes. That way if a game or two is post poned, you have another 1,000 chances to make it up later in the season. Or you could always just go down to a 158 game schedule and have a couple "make up days" at the end of the regular season.O Or you can keep the 162 game schedule and just give each team 3 or 4 "scheduled" double headers each season, hell do it against big rivals! It would be awesome! That way you then have an extra couple days at the end of the season (prior to the first playoff game) to make up any "needed" make up games. I mean sure, maybe a few 60-70 win teams will only play 160-161 games in a season, but it makes more sense then what happens now! Edited April 5, 2016 by DaveW

I watched it a couple times, and when they ran a mid inning fast recap, the closeup seemed he was off line of where the ball landed. That said, if he would have caught it, I think most of TD would have had to have their foot medically removed from their mouth. But a good defensive player could have got it. I imagine he will catch the common stuff, but the tough stuff will negate some of his offensive production. I still think an injury will end it long before ability, or the lack thereof does. spinowner Provisional Member Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 $$$$$ It isn't exactly fair to charge a premium for the home opener, and then because of weather, it is no longer the opener. Not only a premium price per seat but usually a sellout. Gotta preserve the revenue if possible.

It's a tier one game but nothing more expensive than a game against, say, a division rival. DaveW 1
