Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 The Angels were hot when we played them and about the only team that is as hot as the Angels are the Yankees and Ta Da!!!It's all about playing teams at the right time and the Twins are getting a bunch of 'wrong times' of late. Come to think of it... We also got the Tigers in April when they were the hottest team on the planet. How are we in contention for a playoff spot with that kind of luck???I don't know but WE ARE!!!Here are some things to think about: 1. CRASHES -- So... I got up early this morning and made me a cup of coffee and started working on this Game Thread opener. It was fairly decent; I started off with thought #1... talking about how the Yankees are constantly on ESPN and MLB Network. Whatever happens it seems to be all Yankees all the time and to support this theme... all my following thoughts (2 3 and 4) were also about the Yankees... I didn't mention the Twins once. It was a dry joke that lasted all opener long. And then my screen blanked and everything went away and I couldn't get it back. I don't know what crashed... Google Chrome, TD or my computer? But something did and now I don't have time to do it again, so I'm cobbling something together quickly.2. The Yankees -- I hate them... I always have... right after the White Sox. They are my 2nd most hated team. They spend too much money and they get too much press. It's the only place where Jim Leyritz could have become a legend. A couple of singles in a big game and he gets a monument in CF.3. The Twins -- I love them... I always have... no other team comes close. It was good to see Ervin Santana look absolutely amazing yesterday. Those Angels were swinging well so Ervin gets bonus points for that. We needed that win... 5 losses in a row in late July with the team in a playoff spot would have sucked.4. Not Played on Paper -- As proof positive that baseball is not played on paper, I present to you the Minnesota Twins and the New York Yankees. Not many thought the Yankees were the team to beat in the AL East this year. Teixeira, A-Rod, Sabathia and Beltran all have dentures. Tanaka was and is a huge injury concern. All they did was pick up people off the scrap heap to fill out the lineup. Guys like Headley, Drew, Garrett Jones and Chris Young. And of course... next to nobody thought the Twins could be where they are. It just goes to show... baseball isn't played on paper. It's a good thing because we are inching closer to a paperless society.5. Passwords -- I have too many passwords... At least I think I do because I've tried to return to sites after years of not being there to find out that my password is incorrect. Life has become a game of trying to remember passwords and after failing at that... trying to remember who you typed as your best friend in high school.--------------------Game-time forecast: 84 deg F, clear to partly cloudy, 0% chance of rain, winds from the NW at 11mph.Lineups:YANKEESEllsbury CFGardner LFRodriguez DHTexeira 1BMcCann CBeltran RFHeadley 3BGregorius SSDrew 2BPineda PTWINSDozier 2BHunter RFMauer 1BSano DHPlouffe 3BRosario LFHicks CFSuzuki CSantana SSHughes PGo Twins! Let's get Pelfrey on the mound as the Twins Face the Mets... May vs the Philies and Gibson on the Mound as the Twins face the Red Wings. David HK, woolywoolhouse, glunn and 1 other 4
gocgo Verified Member Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 I read the ESPN preview of this game and I think I was about 3/4 of the way down before I figured out who the Yankees were actually playing. Nice of them to mention us. Circus Boy, Kirby_waved_at_me, glunn and 4 others 7
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Good way to make a password: Combine two words with a three-digit number. The words can be something in the room, like cup, clicker, or window. Add a -y to the end of the first word to get windowyclicker or clickerycup, then append your 3-digits to get something like clickerycup832. Fairly easy to remember, almost impossible to guess, impractical for software to hack. Passwords eventually will go away, but for now, two words + 3 digits will do. Riverbrian 1

I hate the Yankees the most but I gotta say that I think the Red Sox are right down there with them. The only difference between the two franchises is beards. And I don't hate the White Sox, although I enjoy beating them more than just about anyone else. At least most of their fans are real baseball fans, as opposed to the types who follow the team on the north side of town. Riverbrian and Squirrel 2

Easy to remember, can get a 20+ character password that you'll never forget. I also tier my passwords. I use a single password for hundreds of sites. If I don't care whether that site gets hacked, I use that tier 4 password. If I care a little, I use a more complicated tier 3 password. If I care a lot, a very complex tier 2 password. If it'd be disastrous to get hacked, an incredibly complex tier 1 password. I only use that last one in 3-4 places (banking, investments, etc). Mike Sixel, glunn and Riverbrian 3

Blake Verified Member Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 My favorite thing, though, is sites that I don't care about that constantly demand I change my password. Those are my "increment by 1" sites. Unfortunately, though, too many people think "increment by 1" is an effective password strategy. For instance, let's say your password is: YankeesSuck0 and the next time you have to change your password you use YankeesSuck..umm, nevermind, I think everyone get's the idea.
