Can we get Nunez a helmet this fits correctly?!

Long time lurker, first time poster.

Does anyone else get annoyed that every time Nunez runs, his helmet falls off!? Wear a better fitting helmet! As a someone who grew up playing and watching baseball most of my life (like many of us on here), I can't stand it.

While I'm typically a positive person, my first post doesn't show it. Figured it was good to get that out of me now since my fiance just rolls her eyes at me.

Like I said, none of my business.   :)

It's because he runs so straight up and down, especially when at top speed.  Maybe he should run with his head a little more down.

Duck tape fixes everything....

I thought I saw of picture of that with Nunez in Spring Training...anyone else remember that?

I watched him with the Yanks.  The commentators would measure his hustle by when the helmet came off.  It's dangerous for sure if the ball hits him, but likely, there is nothing that can be done about it.  Equipment managers and sport equipment designers take their jobs very seriously.

This is a more serious issue than most think. Michael Cuddyer injured his back a few years ago falling on his helmet after it came off. And I think it was last year that a Twins player (Danny Santana?) had to go on the DL with a cut to the face from his loose helmet falling off and bouncing back as he slid. My guess is that Nunez wants his helmet to fit loose but I think the equipment manager and PM should insist on him wearing a tighter helmet.

It's his thing-  some guys still wear their socks high, Suzuki likes the old school catcher's mask, Nuñez likes to have a loose helmet.

I do worry that if he ever gets beaned that helmet will just spin around and around:

Welcome to the boards.

It makes for a great drinking game … helmet comes off, drink! Although doing that, I have to switch to water about halfway through the game when Nunez is playing. ;)

We should have a celebration for when it stays on!

Glad you took the leap … hope to see you post some more.

I sometimes liked to wear my cap loose in the outfield, so it would fly off for effect when I ran hard to make a catch.  Obviously I'd wear it tighter if the sun was an issue, but otherwise it served no real purpose anyway.

Batting helmet?  Not a huge risk to lose it around the bases, but there's at least a chance that a throw might come near your head, or you might collide with someone or something on a slide, I'd think I would want to keep it on.

I found it funny at first, but now it's just annoying. Seriously, find a helmet that works for simple running.

At a lower level, it might be excusable because a better fitting helmet might not be easily available, and the player probably isn't compensated much if at all, so you might give them some leeway to do their thing.

But there's really no excuse for an MLB player.  And no excuse for his manager/GM/teammates not to compel him to do so.

Didn't you people learn ANYTHING from Brady and the New England Patriots?

Just inflate Nunez's head with a little more air.

I'm just glad there's occasionally someone actually running the bases.

Nobody loses a helmet walking back to the dugout after yet another weak K.

This was one of the very few good laughs I had watching Twins Baseball last year (outside of Game Threads of course).
