Lewis striking out is lower on the list of things I'm upset about on why the Twins lost.

1.  Orze should have thrown to first for the easy out of Rojas.  Witt doesn't come up to bat if Orze does his job.

2.  Shelton should have walked Witt if it he had to come to plate.  I understand Pasquantino was having a decent day, but he is not their best player, take the bat out of their best player and make someone else beat you.

3. Bell and Martin strike out and not even attempt to move the runner over.  If they take a different approach at the plate, they could have been able to get Clemens in from 2nd.

4.  Only here I may give Royce some blame for his strikeout.  The pitcher did a good job making Royce lean out over the plate with his pitch sequencing.  Balls on the outside part of the plate has been a Royce problem for a long time so getting him cognizant of that and then throwing a front door cutter is just good pitching.  The best hitters will foul it off.  Royce is not one of the best hitters.

This didn't age well.

Well, I mean, when you get it to 3-2 and get hittable pitches...swing the bat. Both Martin and Royce had pitches to hit. Major league hitters should not be striking out looking when the game is on the line.

I think you are wrong about point three. I read a quote from Joey Votto a few years ago, saying it just isn't that easy to hit a pitch where you want and fans really need to let it go. Like, they are literally trying. It's hard.

It’s on the mlb.com videos, confirmed, straight upper inside quadrant in the zone, perfect to pull and hammer down the line.

just watch it go by

He had hittable pitches. Someone put it perfectly.. he was hoping to walk. And Luke would have... Well we will never know

This team obviously has lots of issues, but I hope being held hostage by “The Royce Lewis” conundrum isn’t one of them for much longer. Finding a suitable home for him at 3rd, 2nd, 1st base, or DH is secondary to establishing whether or not he’s actually a big league hitter. Which is seriously in question.

Royce is broken. Variety of reasons as to why.

He is what he has always been; many players come up from AAA do great for a bit then the Big League pitchers figure them out and the players are not good enough to adapt because the talent is not there..

I agree with the overall sentiment but with Royce, I don't if it is lack of talent or injuries combined with lack of confidence, screwed up mechanics, etc. Doesn't really matter at this point because I think his career is essentially over.

This is a game thread so I was just joshing around a little.  Yes, batting advice can't be taken to extremes in any direction and no one means it that way.  "Be aggressive and wait for your pitch."  😁

One bad game… might be a bit quick to say his demotion didn’t work

Well some here were excited when Lewis hit a home run in his first AAA game; he is not going to help the Twins .

He is going to be Sano lite.

I would agree that it is hard and that they are trying.  This is more of a baseball philosophy issue on why no one does situational hitting anymore, except Kyle Isbel it seems.  Two strike situational hitting used to be practiced and preached.  There's a reason that players like Salvador Perez, Miguel Cabrera, or most of the Guardian batters (at least against the Twins) seem to be able to get the ball to the bat and put it in play.  They took what the pitcher was giving them.  They still may have been out, but you could see that they were attempting to put the ball in play instead of trying to hit the walk off home run.

Sure does show the difference between AAA and The Show doesn’t it?

Royce and Matt each got benched for a few days after struggling, then got demoted.

Keaschall has been on the struggle bus, let’s see if the day off gets him a mini-reset or if he gets demoted too

Keaschall turned it around in May, he has started off slow in June but nothing that warrants a demotion.

With a good May he is up to 78 wRC+ and is currently 3 for his last 20 while not able to throw it 70 ft and doesn’t move laterally well.

When Culpepper comes up for SS maybe Keaschall gets a reset too, Gray/Clemens play 2B Royce plays 1B

Actually in June Keaschall is 3 for 17 and if you count the last two games in May he is 7 for 25 in his last 7 games before today.  You can use any stats you want but regardless he has been looking better and demoting him is not going to help him or the team.  This nonsense of saying Gray, Kreidler or Arcia should regular playing time is not helping this team this year or next.  Set the positions in the infield with the young guys and let them play the rest of the year,  Then assess at the end of the year where you are at with each player and position.  But stop playing musical chairs and give the young guys a chance this year.
