Don't hold your breath.  The only significant changes will be parting with players expiring contracts.  Kepler, Santana, Margot, Thielbar etc.

If they actually want to cut payroll, they will have to trade Lopez.

Hey now. Let's not look too hard at the manager.

Let's see...

"He is just doing what he's told by the analytics dept."

"Managers don't matter in MLB."

"He's not doing anything different than anybody else."

"Managers can't get better play from their players."

"The Washington Senators were worse."

"HIs hands are tied by the front office."

"His hands are tied by the owner."

Rocco isn't very good at bullpen management.  Not sure who we can get to replace him?

Cleveland in W/L column is better team for sure, but I'm surprised at this stat in this 4 game series.

Twins went 9 for 27 (33%) with runners in scoring position.

Guards went 8 - 32 (25%) with runners in scoring position.

Guards have better depth in bullpen, pretty good starting pitching but really stood out was how clutch they were in sphincter tight moments.

On to the next one.  9 games to go and Twins most likely have to go 7-2 to get into playoffs.  I for one will root them on till elimination but just don't see how they get enough wins at this point.

Go Twins

It's over.

If you're taking the over... does that mean i should take the under?

I suppose i might on the Tigers record there. Not taking the under on the Twins no matter how tempting ya make it.

Needed a starter;

Needed solid backups for oft injured "stars";

Needed bullpen help;

Chose to do None of the above;

They've literally taken me to where I don't even care what kind of TV package they put together for next year, I just don't care. Well earned apathy has set in.

I know it's too late this year, but I sure hope they try someone else next year.   But if I had to bet, I say it will be status quo.

Rocco's been the Twins' manager since 2019. 6 years is a long time in professional sports and managers / head coaches usually reach their shelf life after 5 years.

The 2019 season was a fluke. The Bomba Squad. We won't see that kind of Twins' offense again anytime soon.

2020 was also a fluke because of the pandemic but the White Sox lost the division more than the Twins won it. Epic collapse from the pale hose.

2021 was a cluster.

2022 was another cluster that saw the team finish 10 games over the month of the season. Built-in excuse though - 'injuries'.

2023 saw the Twins make the playoffs thanks to being in a weak division.

He's not the answer. Hasn't been the answer. He needs to go.

Definitely over.  This team blew it down the stretch and gave up.  All one has to do is look at the players in the dugout.  No fire, no fight, just guys sitting on the bench, kicking the dirt, picking their noses, etc.  Still 9 games left, but they've already accepted they are not gonna make it.  It's truly pathetic.

Better hope Royals go 1-8 to extend the agony

Well they do have like 5 future CY Young award winners, Festa, Mathews, SWR and Morris, that doesn't even include Ober and Ryan.

I put this on the owners. We had a really good year last year and some exciting young players and even won a playoff game. How to build on that? These guys screw-up the media contract, decide to cut payroll, don't address the needs for the team not only in the off-season, but all year long. The fizzling out of this team late in the season is probably the most fitting ending.

And I’ll be here until the bitter end, clinging to that last shred of optimism that they could pull a miracle and make it into the postseason. Plus I want to see what character these guys have, especially our “stars”.

You have one of the better clutch post-season players in recent history on the team and even he's caught in the wash with this group. The Twins are their manager. There's no fight.

yeah if they lose 6 out of the next 9 which I fully expect to happen.  Rocco might be in a pickle.

100% on ownership as much as players. They knew their were holes, and health issues plus a lot of untested rookies. When opportunity was available ownership did nothing to pitch in or contribute. It's always been that way since Eloise passed on. The rest of that clan cares about gate receipts and beers and Jersey's sold. You can tell in the marketing ads, they promote objects, hat's jersey's, boblehead  promotions not the baseball. When ownership could have stepped up they sat Idle.  I doubt Morosi was telling a lie about payroll constraints at trade deadline. Asset cost or whatever and prices, there was a message to do with what you have. They even blew the TV contract deal causing a large portion of fans to not even be able to watch. We don't have the Rays, A's or Marlins ownership but we have penny pincher types like them. Off-season and minors are for development not the pros. We never had a stable line-up card all year. We will likely never win another WS championship with the Pohlads. They seem satisfied with just good enough to make playoffs or fringes of it.
