There's no reason he couldn't and shouldn't be doing what Clase is doing in Cleveland right now. I concur. Duran is not very reliable one. Btw twins batters chased way too many pitches.

thelanges5 Verified Member Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 Ragans for Chapman that was a heckuva trade. SwainZag, Mike Sixel, USAFChief and 1 other 4
Irishman Verified Member Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 I would prefer the robot umpire than this home umpire. This home umpire seems to favor the the Royals. RpR and Doctor Gast 1 1

But even last year, and certainly this year, even with the pitches and velocity he has, almost every batter, even if they don’t get hits, make some contact against him. And a lot of good contact, even if it is foul. K rate way down. Why is that? I hope Duran and the staff figure it out. At this point, he is a crap shoot. Definitely no where close to a sure thing. Definitely no where close to Clase. Duran struggling in non save/lower pressure situations? Duran is struggling in tie game and save situations. But hey, we got Richards now!

I guess you can argue he wanted Duran to face the top of the order. I think it was stupid, but I guess there's an argument to be made. And Mike has every right to disagree. Mike Sixel 1

thelanges5 Verified Member Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 We haven’t been as effective hitting left-handers in the second half. Pretty hard with Buxton and Correa, not on the field. KC with a lefty warming for bottom 8th. USAFChief and Mike Sixel 2

I know it is not outstanding, but pitchers will give up hits and when you only give up now 3 runs in 6 innings, you have given your team a chance to win. I am not sure if he should be part of the rotation long term but give him some credit for keeping his team in the game, that is what counts. It was a quality start in name only. Sequencing luck isn't reliable, i.e. if you're going to bleed baserunners and yield hard contact, including serving up way too many bombs, you're asking for trouble. Yes, the Twins are in this game, but they'll be out more often than in if Varland continues to pitch as he has. USAFChief and Twins_Fan_in_NJ 2
