Nope.   He looked like a man with only one low probability thing on his mind.  I think he could have easily worked a walk to tie the game.

Lou should have been done after 5. Was a bit of Houdini job out there and they paid the price.

I thought I was wrong to call for Varland out after 5, but I wasn't. Look, we got 6 innings 3 runs from Varland. That's as good as it gets from him. Not horrible, kept us in the game. I guess it just feels like we have a chance of a much better outing from both Festa and Matthews than we do from Varland.

He gave up 8 hits, two of them should have been outs and 1 walk.   I know it is not outstanding, but pitchers will give up hits and when you only give up now 3 runs in 6 innings, you have given your team a chance to win.   I am not sure if he should be part of the rotation long term but give him some credit for keeping his team in the game, that is what counts.
