...I think Miranda goes for Correa. Zero chance they cut bait on Farmer, and Martin seems to be the CFer of choice when Buxton sits. There's also zero chance they give up on Margot at this point. Again...save face.

As much as I hate it, I think you're probably right about the Twins deciding to lean on Martin in CF. The Twins have avoided using Margot in CF which is pretty infuriating to me considering the Twins already had plenty of corner OF depth... but Derek Falvey and shiny things...

Miranda is hitting well now .292/.320/.500 OPS .820 wRC+ 135 production and low K rate is awfully hard to send to AAA, but the roster construction makes it a real mess.

how much did Margot contribute to those vs Martin?

Neither one of them contributed much to the win streak.  Nine position players played extremely well these last two series.  Martin and Margot were pretty bad.

  PA wRC+
Edouard Julien 26 304
Trevor Larnach 18 285
Ryan Jeffers 31 259
Max Kepler 21 235
Willi Castro 31 217
Christian Vázquez 17 208
Jose Miranda 19 202
Byron Buxton 19 193
Carlos Santana 31 192
Kyle Farmer 16 97
Alex Kirilloff 21 64
Austin Martin 24 48
Manuel Margot 12 13

IMO Thielbar isn't going anywhere because he's a Rocco guy.....Funderburk may be better but he probably goes.

Sending Miranda down makes no sense....he should be hitting here everyday, either at 3b, 1b, or DH'ing.  They're going to keep Margot too, probably because of the 4 million they're paying him.   I think they send Martin down to make sure he's playing everyday.  I like the AB's he takes and he love his speed in terms of base-stealing, but he probably goes in a numbers crunch.

Alcala and Topa should be up.  Jackson and Bowman are dime a dozen arms.

I'm not a sentimental guy so Thielbar can go as far as I'm concerned, but unlike Jackson and Okert, he's maintained his velocity from last year, so from my view, those two are more likely to be washed up. Relievers are so flakey, it's hard to tell who's no longer effective and who's just being hit by small sample sizes.

Martin scuffling buys Margot some time I'd guess. I'd there ever was a veteran they might jettison, Margot might be it. As mentioned technically they aren't even paying him. Slide that by the Pohlad's actuaries, lol.

I think it was @Seth Stohs who mentioned that Jackson's guaranteed pay may be large enough for another team not to claim him. Thus, we would have him at AAA to return when injuries occur.

Jackson has already been outrighted, too. I'd suspect he would decline being outrighted off the roster.

Dan Hayes is "hearing" Correa activated tonight, Martin to St Paul.

I suppose the Twins might rely on Castro in CF considering the fact his bat has finally started to show up. If he'd remained in the cellar of performance, Castro actually still had an option left.

So if that's the case tonights lineup will be Castro Margot and Buxton in the outfield. And if Rocco sticks to his match-ups it'll be Correa Miranda Farmer and Santana on the infield vs Crochet. Vasquez and Jeffers C and DH

It's official per MLB: Correa activated, Martin to AAA.

Too bad for Martin. Overall, he did well. He'll be back if he stays healthy.

At this point, two of the three activations have occurred. Correa started at shortstop yesterday and is in the lineup again today and Durán was activated today. Bowman (DFA) and Martin (option) were taken off the active roster. The Twins may lose Bowman since he was DFA'd, but 1) I am not confident he will be claimed and 2) with Staumont, Topa and Alcalá all at AAA, it doesn't seem likely that he would be needed barring another spate of injuries.

Regarding the post-Polanco trade moves the Twins made, I wasn't a fan of adding a right handed hitting outfielder. I thought Austin Martin could handle that role and thus far he has been far better than Margot. The key fact is that with both Margot and Martin on the roster, the preferred center fielder was Martin.

I was neutral to slightly negative about acquiring Carlos Santana. His recent power surge has quieted the critics, but so far he hasn't hit enough to justify playing first base on a regular basis (76 OPS+).

Finally, bullpen depth was added. Jay Jackson was signed to a free agent contract, while Steven Okert was acquired for Nick Gordon. I think the choices were sound. Relief pitchers are volatile, but the Twins have almost a full bullpen of players under team control through 2025 and their top guys (Jax, Stewart and Durán) look to be excellent.

FWIW, Justin Topa looked very hittable this afternoon. His pitches has predictable movement and he was actually lucky to get anyone out. He can still be fine, but based just on today Topa needs a few more outings to prove he is a professional baseball pitcher worth a call to MLB. There shouldn't be any hurry to promote him and if he uses up all of his rehab days, there is always an option to use for Topa.

Bowman was DFA'd for Duran. Why is Funderburk down?

There sure isn't much help over at the Saints. The lineup is weak. There seems to be 20 pitchers on the roster. 3 or 4 of whom could be useful.

The hitters - yuk

Yeah most of thought he wouldn't make it through waivers even with the rough peripheral numbers.  He is off to a hot start and this is year two after TJ I believe so a decent chance he might pitch than last year.  A solid flyer for a team to take that needs help in the pen.

Martin is doing well in very SSS. Kiersey is having a great season (problem - he's not on the 40 man roster). Helman is hitting homers but not for average, like in the past. He can play everywhere except catcher. Prato is another decent player. High OBP right now. BA is only average.

Wallner and Severino are both playing terrible right now and clogging up the 40 man roster. I wonder if the Twins might DFA Severino at some point if he keeps playing like this.
