If adding Duran would make him the 14th pitcher, I don't think league rules allow that.  Probably the question concerns Correa when he comes back.

That's what I'm saying. There's not an obvious pitcher to send down in his place.

Except I don't think he has an option. Jax, Sands and Funderburk do.

Definitely Jax then, based on the Alcala decision.

I still think Bowman or Jackson goes. Or a surprise muscle strain trip to the IL for Jackson or Okert types.

2 backwards K's for Julien today....

Fighting off tough two-strike pitches doesn't seem to be something they taught him in the minors.  Maybe because there aren't as many tough two-strike pitches down there.  It's a frustrating gap in an otherwise promising set of skills.

How about that run differential, now! Out of the negative and into the positive. It's right up there in great importance.... like the all important (these days) exit velocity.

Hey doomsday guys! How you feeling now?

I'd honestly be fine with cutting Thielbar but I'm sure that's not a popular take.

I did wonder if that played a role in Funderburk going two innings and 38 pitches last night.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bowman is DFA'd. There's a decent chance that he doesn't get claimed, because he is making more than the minimum as soon as he was recalled (IIRC). With no options remaining, he can't be sent to AAA by a claiming team without going through the DFA process.

Finally, there's a decent chance the Twins won't need him if he would be claimed by someone else, so maybe it's worth the risk to DFA him.

I think Thielbar is cooked. But he is going to cost us too many games before Baldelli quits going to him, I fear.

It could be Jackson. Rocco has put Bowman in high leverage position while Jackson has only been in low leverage spots the past two weeks.

That series against Chicago did the trick. Some good fortunes at the plate, everyone stopped pressing and they had confidence in the approach. Carried over. Great to see.

And I know Thielbar is popular in the clubhouse and a great teammate but he's done as a high leverage reliever. Funderburk is a much better option at this point but I think there's some politics and sensitivity with dumping Thielbar.

He's the team's highest paid reliever, he's not going anywhere yet. We haven't seen a large enough sample size from him this year either.

I hope he proves me wrong, but I haven't really trusted him for about a year. I know stats say otherwise somewhat. I'm going by personal intuition. I'm fine if he's a 6th inning type pitcher, but not high leverage.
