One week ago we left Cleveland with a 6-game lead. The lead is now 7.5 games. This is favorable. Let the nines begin!

Wanted to do Charlie Manuel (obvious Cleveland connection) but couldn't find a pic with number visible.

Cincinnati 4, Detroit 3. Our number over the Tigers drops to 8.

Edited to add: Detroit starts a 10-day, 10-game west coast road trip on Friday. That should help our cause.

I know this is what the magic number means, but in real terms…Cleveland with 78 losses, Detroit with 79.  Best they can do is 84 and 83 wins by winning out.  Twins need to go 8-8 to get to 84 wins.  Need to go 9-7 to have their destiny completely in their own hands.

The Twins must finish ahead of Cleveland to advance to the postseason. Cleveland holds the tiebreaker.

Gagne, imo, is one of the most under-rated Twins. I think he was just over-shadowed by Puckett and Hrbek
